Poppy Field

Hello sketch lovin' friends!  There's so much happening at Our Daily Bread Designs and Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps that I've been stamping like crazy this week, but today is Saturday and that means it's time for another wonderful sketch at The Sweet Stop!

For my sample, I pulled out one of my very favorite flower sets to color, Poppies and Greetings by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps!

Creative Nugget:  The card front was created by layering two patterns of paper by FabScraps onto True Black card stock, and mounting that to a Kraft card base.  The poppy image was stamped several times across the Neenah Solar Crest panel, and again onto another small scrap piece.  The poppies were colored with Copic Markers and three of them from the scrap piece were fussy cut to pop onto the base layer to create dimension.  The Scallop Border Dies were stitched to the poppy panel and attached to the card front.  A Tiny Tag sentiment, ribbon, and a pearl were added to finish the card.  I like how the poppies seem to pop off the page!

Check out more amazing samples by the Sugar Babies and join us this week over at The Sweet Stop!

ODBDSLC141 - Secret Admirer

Happy Tuesday, dear friends!  Hope you are having a wonderful week so far.  I'm so glad you could join me today because it's time for a new Shining the Light Challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs.  One of the things I love about the stamping community is the many opportunities available to improve my craft. One way to do that is to browse the blogs and galleries of talented stampers I admire.  This week you will have the chance to do just that!

This week's challenge is:
Secret Admirer Challenge - CASE a card of any designer you admire.  It does not need to be an ODBD Designer.  Link the card you CASEd within your post.

Before I get to my sample for this week, here are the details for the challenge.

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a PRIZE, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!!  Entries for the prize must be submitted by Sunday, February 10th at 8 p.m. EST.  One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday.

While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them.  As a way of recognizing those who do use ODBD stamps, we will again be choosing three or more of our participants for the Shining the Light Award.  In order to qualify for this award; however, you must use Our Daily Bread stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Sunday, February 10th at 8 p.m. EST.  If you upload your creation to Splitcoaststampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword ODBDSLC141.  When creating your posts on blogs, please include a link to the challenge.

Now...on to my sample!

I had a very hard time choosing just one person on the Our Daily Bread Designs Design Team to CASE!  All of the Sister Sticks are so amazingly talented.  So...I chose a stamp set that had never been used, and went searching for a card using that set.  I found this gorgeous Lilac card by Angela Crockett!  Here is my version:

Creative Nugget: I loved the card Angie did in Kraft, but I thought if I used Royal Velvet, I could use my card for Easter or for Mother's Day.   The lilac image was stamped randomly on the background using VersaMark ink.  This was stitched to Neenah Solar Crest and mounted on a Royal Velvet card front after adhering some lace to the bottom of the panel.  The lilac was stamped twice on Royal Velvet with Memento ink.  One image was cut with an oval Nestie.  The other image was painted with bleach and hand cut.  A white gel pen was used to highlight the lilac petals and a little color was added to the leaves using Prismacolor pencils.  The cut lilac was popped up on the other one with Dimensionals.  I didn't have the same die that Angie had, so two Asian Accent dies were used to frame the image.  Pearls and a bow made with satin ribbon and tulle was added to finish the card.

Happy Hearts

Hello, friends!  It's time for a new sketch at The Sweet Stop and with only 12 more days until Valentine's Day I decided to make a Valentine for my DH!

Creative Nugget:  I took the liberty of making my card square to accommodate the pennant banner which was created with patterned papers cut with a die from the Pennants & More Dies set by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps and Baker's Twine.   Authentique papers from the Lovely Collection were stitched to True Black card stock and mounted to a Neenah Solar Crest card front. Cocoa and Cookie, from the Cocoa's Heart Clear Stamp Set, were stamped on a Decorative Plaque Die and colored with Copic Markers.  The image was stamped two more times, colored, and various parts cut out to pop onto the main image for dimension. The heart lock was paper pieced with one of the scraps left over from the pennant.  A Sizzix embossing folder was used to emboss small hearts on the red banner and then swiped with a Fresh Snow ink pad.  The sentiment was stamped on one of the pennants to finish the card.

By this shall all [men] know that you are My disciples, if you love one another [if you keep on showing love among yourselves].  (John 13:35)

My sample for this week's Shining the Light Challenge is a Tent Topper card.

Creative Nugget:  Two complementary patterns were chosen from the Kissing Booth Paper Pad by BasicGrey and stitched to Early Espresso card stock, then mounted to a Fine Linen card front.  Ribbon and a bow were added along with a tiny ribbon rose.  The intertwining hearts are from the Love One Another stamp set and were colored with Copic Markers.  Oval and Floral Oval Dies were used to cut and mount the image panels, and a little sponging added while still in the die.  A few heart crystals were added as accents to highlight the wonderful verse from the third chapter of John!

Peace of God

Brrrrrrr...it's cold out there!  What a good day to stay in and craft!  Hello sketch lovin' friends...it's Saturday and time for another sketch at The Sweet Stop!

Creative Nugget:  Nothing comforts like the peace of God and knowing that nothing can separate us from His love!  I reached for the clear stamp set, Peace of God by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, for my sample today.  The titmouse image was colored with Copic Markers and layered onto circle and scalloped circle dies.  Glossy Accents was added to the berries for texture.  The Bo Bunny patterned papers were cut to follow the sketch and sewn to Smokey Shadow card stock.  Everything was mounted onto a Neenah Solar Crest card front.  The sentiment was stamped on a tiny tag and tied to the bow.  A few punched flowers and pearls finish the card.  I hope this card will bring comfort to a woman in our congregation going through a difficult time.

Check in on the other Sugar Babies for more lovely inspiration for SSS195.

I thought I'd try a twisted easel card for my sample this week.

Creative Nugget: Sugar and Spice and all things nice. That's what little girls are made of.  This adorable silhouette image is from the new Little Girls stamp set released this month by Our Daily Bread Designs and was stamped directly on the DP.  A combination of Blush papers by My Mind's Eye, True Black card stock, and Classic Petal Edgeabilities were stitched to a Vintage Cream card front and were perfect for this little girl birthday card.  Pink ribbon, pearl flourishes, lace, and flowers...all girly things...were used to embellish the card!

Warm Thoughts

Hello, friends!  Sending warm thoughts and warm wishes to you on this fine Saturday morning!  What a busy work week it's been.   I did manage to find some stamping time...and that's a good thing because it's time for another wonderful sketch at The Sweet Stop!  Since it is the third week, the spin is snowmen...which means if you include a snowman on your card, you will be eligible to win a $15 credit to the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store!

I think I'm definitely in a pink rut...not that pink is necessarily my favorite color.  I usually don't wear pink, but there are just so many pretty papers and color combinations out there that include pink, and with the LOVE month on the way...well, you'll just have to excuse all the pink!  LOL!  Any way...here's another pink creation!

Creative Nugget:  This cute litte snowman is from the Holly Jolly Christmas clear stamp set by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps and was the perfect size for this sketch.  He was colored with Copic Markers, fussy cut, and popped up on a Decorative Labels one die.  The various layers of the sketch were created by taping and stitching a combination of Echo Park patterned papers, Early Espresso, and Neenah Solar Crest card stocks.  Texture was added with the Canvas Impression Plate and a Sizzix Snowflake embossing folder.  The sentiment is from the Cozy Friends clear stamp set. Some organdy ribbon, a snowflake punch, and colored rhinestones finish the card.

There are so many adorable snowman images out there, so I can't wait to see your snowy creations!  Take time to check out the talented Sugar Babies for more snowman inspiration.

Creative Nugget:  I found myself reaching for one of my very favorite ODBD stamp sets, You Will Find Refuge, to make this diamond fold birthday card and matching corner bookmark.  Both techniques use the diamond shape for the main panel, so this birthday ensemble came together quickly.  The card has a layered border on two sides, and the bookmark has the border on the bottom!  The chickadees were colored with Copic Markers and cut with the matching Chickadee Die making it very easy to pop them on top of the Marvelous Squares dies.  The sentiment is from the Be Joyful set and twine bows and pearls were added to finish the card.
