Loved and Cherished

Hello friends!  I'm sure there are many people in your life that you love and cherish and who love and cherish you. The one who loves and cherishes you most is Jesus!  We will be celebrating that fact this Sunday.  Easter is evidence of the fact that you are loved and cherished.  Jesus died to cover our sins and rose again, conquering death, and giving us hope beyond the grave!

Creative Nugget: Sketch 585 from Splitcoaststampers today was used for the design of this card.  A new Bible journaling stamp set by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, Words of Life: Collection 3, was used for the wonderful message on this card and was stamped on a piece of Penny Black paper.  The stamp sets in the Creative Worship line are perfect for card-making as well as Bible journaling!  The Precious Poppies were colored with Copic Markers.  The panels were stitched to Smokey Shadow card stock and a dyed silk ribbon ties everything together.

This card will be sent to a very dear prayer warrior from our church who is going through a very difficult time right now.  I hope it blesses and encourages her.

This card will be submitted for the following challenges:
Crafting From the Heart #104 - Anything Goes

Thanks so much for visiting with me today…remember:  You are loved and cherished!

Red & White for the Red Cross

Hello friends!  Clara Barton and a few associates founded the Red Cross 134 years ago today.  In honor of the Red Cross, The Ways To Use It Challenge today at Splitcoaststampers is to create a card using red & white.  Here is my card:

Creative Nugget:  All stamps and dies used on this card are from Our Daily Bread Designs.  The Daisy Chain Background Die was used to emboss some texture on the background layer which was matted with Pure Poppy Card stock and mounted to a Neenah Solar Crest card base.  Next, the Gingham Background was stamped with Pure Poppy ink.  The Layered Lacey Squares Die was cut for the sentiment and sponged while the label was still in the die.  The sentiment is from the new Spread Your Wings stamp set.  The little ladies from the Butterfly & Bugs mini stamp set were colored with Copic Markers and cut with the coordinating Butterfly & Bugs Dies.  Six layers of Asters & Leaves die cuts were used to form the flower and red seed beads were added to the middle of the flower.  A Fence border and several Pennants were added to follow Sweet Sunday Sketch 269 for this week.

This card will be submitted for the following challenges:

Just Believe

Hello, Sweet Friends!  Just a quick post with a card to share with you today.  I had an idea for a card which followed the Sketch Challenge from Wednesday over at Splitcoaststampers.  The whole card was finished except for the main panel and when I reached for the stamp set I had in mind to use, realized I did not have that set!  What…a Sweet 'n Sassy stamp set NOT in my collection?  Well…you can be sure I will be taking care of that promptly, but out came two favorite stamp sets to mimic the one I had in mind…Leafy Flourish Background and More and Majestic Monarchs.

Creative Nugget:  The background on the large circle was sponged with Distress Inks and one of the images from Nature Silhouettes was stamped repeatedly across the grass line.  A trail for the butterflies was made with one of the flourishes from the Leafy Flourish Background and More stamp set.  The Majestic Monarchs were colored with Copic Markers and cut with the matching Monarch Dies.  A sentiment from God is Bigger was stamped onto a Mini Tag die cut to finish the card.

The following supplies from the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store were used for my sample today:

Welcome to the ODBD May 2015 Release

Hello friends!  Welcome to the Our Daily Bread Designs May 2015 Release!   Birds and Butterflies are a sure sign that Spring has arrived.  Be sure to look for these signs of spring as you view the new release creations on the blogs of the talented Breadsticks…birds and butterflies abound!

Three randomly selected winners will each receive a $25 gift certificate to the ODBD Store, to be used toward the purchase of ODBD Stamps found in the "stamps column" of the website just for commenting on the Design Team cards!  You have until May 2, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. EDT to leave your comments on the Designers' Blogs for a chance to win!  The Winners will be posted on the ODBD Blog on May 3rd, so be sure to check back there to see if you won!

My first sample uses the beautiful Belles Vignes and Trois Jolies Papillons stamp sets.

Creative Nugget:  The edges on two pieces of Mixed Media paper were masked and the Belles Vignes corner was white embossed. Blue, Green, and Yellow Bisters were lightly sprinkled over the panel and spritzed with water.  Both pieces were given time to air dry.  You never know what you are going to get with the Bisters, but I love the resulting watercolor look.  I chose the panel I liked best and cut it using the large rectangle from the Flourished Star Pattern Die Set, then mounted it on Basic Black card stock and a blue card base.  Layered Lacey Square Dies were used to cut a frame from the second panel.   Banners were cut from a scrap of Christmas 2014 Paper and other scraps from my stash that matched the panel using the Pennant Dies.  These were attached across the frame.  The sentiment from the Belles Vignes set was white embossed on a vellum banner and woven through the frame. Blue and Black Bisters were used on another scrap of Mixed Media paper.  The Swallow Tail butterfly from the Trois Jolies Papillons stamp set was stamped onto this using Archival Jet Black ink and then cut with the matching Tres Papillons die.  The butterfly was added with foam tape to finish the card.

Several of the new stamp sets and dies were used to create a Pop-Up Box for my second project.

Creative Nugget:  After cutting and scoring my box, the panels were covered with green card stock and   papers from the Blooming Garden Collection.  The Zinnia was also stamped on pieces of Blooming Garden papers and it and the leaves were cut with the matching Zinnia and Leaves Dies.  The Fancy Foliage Dies were used to cut a leafy flourish which was mounted along with the zinnia to the front of the card.  The sentiment from the Belles Vignes stamp set was stamped onto a Mini Tag die cut and tied to the seam binding holding the card closed.  Micro beads were added to the center of the zinnia using Glossy Accents.

The card opens to reveal a Bee Balm and Butterfly garden!

The Grass Border Die was used to line each section of the box. The sentiment from Belles Vignes was stamped on a Clouds & Raindrops die cut and attached to the box with a small strip of acetate.  Copic Markers were used to color the Bee Balm and butterflies from the Trois Jolies Papillons and Butterfly and Bugs stamp sets.  The Bee Balm was fussy cut and added randomly to different layers in the box.  The butterflies were cut with the matching Tres Papillons and Butterfly & Bugs Dies and attached to the box on strips of acetate.  Several other clouds and a seam binding bow finish the box.

The following new supplies from the Our Daily Bread Designs Store were used to create these projects...

Hope in the Storm

Hello sweet friends…it's been a while since my last post!  The business of the Easter season, a Paper Craft Festival, work, and my sister's wedding took precidence for a while!  LOL!

The rainy season and April showers are upon us, but the storms of life do not need to bring discouragement…we know the One who is able to carry us through the storm!  The Ways to Use It Challenge on Splitcoaststampers was perfect for the rainy day we'll be having today…AND for playing with several new die sets from the Our Daily Bread Designs April Release.

Creative Nugget:  A Beautiful Border cut from Smokey Shadow card stock separates the panels of Pebbles DP which were stitched to a Smokey Shadow and DP mat and attached to a Neenah Solar Crest card base.  The gorgeous new Layered Lacey Square Dies were used to frame the sentiment from the Shower of Blessings stamp set.  Love the new Umbrellas Die which was paper pieced with different papers from the Pebbles paper pad. The clouds and raindrops were cut with the new Clouds & Raindrops Dies.  A few raindrops were scattered on the background and several others were covered with Glossy Accents to make them look wet.  The handle of the umbrella was also given a coat of Glossy Accents.  A little bow made with metallic thread was added to the handle of the umbrella to finish the card which will be sent to a friend from church recovering from surgery.

The products from the Our Daily Bread Designs Store used to make this card  can be seen below along with links to each item:

Buttons and Lace

Hello friends!  I'm hosting the Ways to Use It Challenge on Splitcoaststampers today where I'm challenging everyone to use buttons and lace, faux or real, on card creations for today's gallery.  My sample uses both real lace and buttons along with pearls and a little texture for a vintage style card.

Creative Nugget:  I used the Freshly Made Sketch 174 for the design of my card and used the beautiful Blushing Rose Paper Collection by Our Daily Bread Designs to piece together the card front which was inspired by the Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Inspiration Photo.  The designer papers were stitched to Kraft card stock and mounted to a Vintage Cream card base.  A little texture paste was added to the upper right corner.  A piece of lace was woven through the Ornate Hearts die cuts also by ODBD. The sentiment from the Ornate Border Sentiments stamp set was stamped on a Mini Tags die cut in Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. Fancy Foliage die cuts, mulberry flowers, pearls, and buttons add to the vintage look of the card.
Here are the supplies from the Our Daily Bread Designs Store that were used to make this card:

Shape Up

Hello again, sweet friends!  This release has been so much fun to design for…but the fun isn't over yet! Welcome back to DAY 5, and the final day of Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps February Release Feature Blog Hops!
Today's feature is:
Today the DT is thrilled to share the new Shape Up stamp set with you.  This new 4"x4" stamp set coordinates with our Shape Dies but can be used alone, as well, to create backgrounds and patterns of all kinds.
  • The teardrop image measures approximately 1.3" x 1.5"
  • Designed by Korin Sutherland
  • Stamp set is $11

Here is my sample made with the Shape Up stamp set
and matching Shape Dies:
Creative Nugget:  Rose Bud, Teal Zeal, and Cantaloupe Memento inks were randomly sponged onto pieces of Select White card stock.  The Delightfully Delicate Background was stamped using Versafine Onyx Black ink on one panel which was cut into three sections and mounted to a piece of True black card stock. Several chevron shapes were cut with the Shape Dies and stamped using the chevron image from the Shape Up stamp set. These were also mounted on the black panel.  Finally, a sponged strip was added at the bottom of the black panel.  Some seam binding was sponged with the same three colors and added along with a key charm I found in my stash of embellishments.  The sentiment from the Inspirational Word Art 1 stamp set was stamped once on a Spellbinders Circle Nestie and once on one of the sponged scraps.  Two words were cut from the sponged piece to highlight those words on the circle panel.  This was then attached to a True Black Scalloped Circle Nestie and popped onto the card.  This sample demonstrates how wonderfully the stamps sets in this release work together!

Inspirational Word Art

Hello sweet friends!  I hope you've been enjoying the February Release so far, and I'm glad you've returned for DAY 3 of Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps February Release Blog Hops!
Today's feature is:

Today the DT is thrilled to share the new Inspirational Word Art 1 with you.  This 4"x6" set includes 6 inspiring sentiments that are sure to encourage any recipient and go nicely with any stamp sets you already own.  This set is the first in it's series!
  • Key sentiment measures approximately 1.75" x 2"
  • Designed by Korin Sutherland
  • Stamp set is $15

Here are two cards made with the fabulous
Inspirational Word Art 1 stamp set:
Creative Nugget:  The herringbone background was made by adhering strips of KaiserCraft designer paper from the Lavender Haze Paper Pad to a panel of Scor-Tape Adhesive.  This was then adhered to a piece of True Black card stock and mounted to a Select White card base.  The Inspirational Word Art 1 sentiment was stamped on a Decorative Plaque Die along with one of the Decorative Frame Toppers.  This was popped up on another of the Decorative Plaque Dies cut from True Black card stock.  Copic Markers were used to color the little flower image.  A large Scallop Border Die, Ribbon, Baker's Twine, and a button finish the card.

Creative Nugget:  Since I have a hard time throwing away my paper scraps, some from my first sample were salvaged to make this second card.  A Poppy CB folder was used to emboss a panel of Select White card stock to which the paper strips were woven and attached. This panel was stitched to some True Black card stock. The Inspirational Word Art 1 sentiment was stamped on a Spellbinders Circle Nestie, sponged, and popped up on a Spellbinders Scalloped Circle Nestie.  One of the Majestic Monarchs were stamped right on the DP and cut with the matching Monarch Dies.  A few pearls finish the card.  I had so much fun with this set that I can hardly wait for the next Inspirational Word Art stamp set!
