and mercy, and to humble yourself and walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8)

Happy Johnny Appleseed Day

Johnny Appleseed and I have something in common...we share the same birthday!  Not only did Johnny Appleseed (John Chapman) plant apple seeds across the nation during the westward expansion, he carried the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as he walked, telling stories to young and old alike. So in honor of both of our birthdays, I've created an apple card for today.
Creative Nugget:  Square layers of Vintage Cream and Bo Bunny DP were stitched to Early Espresso and mounted to a Vintage Cream card base...also a square.  The Decorative Corner Dies fit perfectly around the DP square and little squares of Vintage Cream completed the background for the apple basket image. The Apples image was colored with Copic Markers and cut with a SB Classic Square Nestie.  This panel was layered onto a SB Decorative Labels One Die cut from Early Espresso.  The little birthday sentiment is from another stamp set from Our Daily Bread Designs, Peaches, and was cut with a square punch.  Pearls were colored and added to finish the card.

Many of the materials used to create this card
are available at Our Daily Bread Designs.

This card will be entered in the following challenges:

Sweet as a Peach

Hello friends!  What a gorgeous day we had today...the weather was perfect!  I was able to enjoy breakfast this morning with all the retired teachers from my school district as the school buses rolled by, Kody and I went for a nice long walk, and I managed to get some stamping done...Aaaahhhh!

Creative Nugget:  The Basic Grey papers were stitched to True Black and mounted to a Vintage Cream card base.  The peach jam, fruit, and sentiment are from a new stamp set by Our Daily Bread Designs called Peaches.  The sentiment was stamped on DP and cut with a tag die from the Recipe Card & Tags Dies.  The black border is from the Antique Labels & Border Die set also by ODBD. Copic Markers were used to color the image which was cut with a Spellbinders Label One Die.

Here are the supplies available from the

Make a Wish

Happy Saturday, everyone!  Hope you've been having a wonderful week...it's time for another new sketch at The Sweet Stop!  This past Thursday, Sabrina challenged us to use beads on our card or project for the Ways to Use It Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.  I did not complete my card on Thursday, but that challenge gave me the idea to use beads on my sketch sample for this week!

Creative Nugget:  So Saffron, Chocolate Chip and Mint Julep patterned papers by Basic Grey were used to make the panels for the layout.  The So Saffron layer was embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder and stitched to the green DP layer.  The patterned DP layer was stitched to a Chocolate Chip card stock panel punched with a scalloped edge.  A bow made with seam binding was tied around the card front before attaching it to a Vintage Cream card base.  The dandelion from the Make a Wish stamp set by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps was stamped in VersaMark and clear embossed on a piece of Vintage Cream card stock.  This was cut with an Opulent Oval die and sponged with Scattered Straw and Pine Needles ink while still in the die.  The ink was wiped off the image with a paper towel.  Little seed beads were hand stitched to the dandelion seeds.  The sentiment from the Script Birthdays stamp set was stamped on a hand cut banner and attached along with a button to the front of the card.  I like the way the seed beads look on this card and will need to remember to use beads again on future projects!

The Sugar Babies have some fabulous samples for you.  Be sure to check them out and join us this week at The Sweet Stop for SSS225!

Delightful Doilies With a Spin

Hello friends and stampers!  I hope you've had a wonderful, COOL week!  It's been sweltering here, so not many walks were taken.  Kody will be ready for a good long run when the weather cools off a bit!

Since it's the third Saturday of the month, there's a SPIN on the new sketch at The Sweet Stop!  Use DOILIES on your stamped creation for a chance to win a $15 gift certificate to the Sweet 'n Sassy Store.  What a timely spin since
Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps just released a new clear stamp set called Delightful Doilies and what a beautiful set it is, so that's what I used for this week's sample.

Creative Nugget:  This card was a mixed media experiment.  Three doilies were stamped in VersaMark ink and clear embossed on mixed media paper.  Water was sprayed on the panel before spraying on Dirty Martini, London Blue, and After Midnight Dylusions.  This was then wiped with a paper towel and heat dried. The other two doilies were white embossed on Blueberry Sky and Winter Wisteria card stocks.  The same Dylusions colors were sprayed on a craft mat and then spritzed with water.  The doilies were dabbed in the ink, fussy cut, and popped on the doily background.  This panel was matted in True Black and popped onto a Solar Crest card base after adding a lace border.  The Mini Tag Die was stamped with a sentiment from the Special Friends stamp set and tied onto the lace along with a seam binding bow.  A few pearls and a button tied with floss were added to finish the card.  I'm sure if I tried this again, the results would be quite different which is what makes mixed media so much fun!

Take a look at all the amazing samples made by the Sugar Babies this week.  Then take out your doilies and play along with SSS220 at The Sweet Stop for a chance to win the prize.

ODBDSLC159 Sketch

Hello everyone!  Hope your week got off to a good start. Here it is Tuesday again and time for another Shining the Light Challenge and this week Chris has a sketch for us!
This week's challenge is:
A Sketch

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a PRIZE, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs Store!!  Entries for the prize must be submitted by Sunday, June 23rd at 8 p.m. EST. One random winner will be chosen and announced with the next challenge.

While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments, we would love to see them if you have them.  As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing three or more of our participants for the Shining the Light Award.  In order to qualify for this award, you must use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Sunday, June 23rd at 8 p.m. EST.  If you upload your creation to Splitcoaststampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword ODBDSLC159.  When creating your posts on blogs, please include a link to the challenge.  Thank you!  We love seeing your creations!

Here's my card for ODBDSLC159:

Creative Nugget:  The front of the card was made by stamping the Fishing Net Background with Wild Honey Distress Ink on a Harvest Gold panel.  A little sponging with the same ink was done around the edges before matting it on True black card stock and attaching it to a Harvest Gold card base.  The lighthouse image from the Keep My Lamp Burning set was masked and the sky sponged with distress inks.  Some Coloring with Copic Markers was done to finish the second panel.  More masking and sponging was done to create the ocean scene.  The fishing boat from The Waves on the Sea set was stamped with the help of a stamp positioner.  This panel was cut with a Spellbinders Classic Oval, mounted to a Terracotta Tile Opulent Oval Die, and then to a True Black Memory Box Die.  The oval was switched to the other side of the card from the sketch to accommodate the images.  The Compass was stamped again and fussy cut to pop up on the front of the card.  The banners were hand cut.  The sentiment from the All Occasion Sentiments stamp set was stamped onto vellum and stitched to the card front.  A few pearls finish the card.

Here you can find the supplies used from the ODBD Store!

Bountiful Balloons

Happy Saturday, everyone!  It's time for a new sketch at The Sweet Stop!  My card this week was inspired by Bridget Finlay's Wired Balloons card which was inspired by Colleen Dietrich's Baby Balloon Bouquet!  So we have balloons to bring hugs, balloons for baby, and balloons bearing birthday wishes...hope you are inspired by these bountiful balloons!

Here is my card for this week's sketch:

Creative Nugget:  Sweet 'n Sassy's new Birthday Bash set and matching Birthday Bash Dies made this card a snap to put together.  The cheerful designer paper was laying on my work table, so I don't remember which paper pad it came from any more, but the colors were replicated on the die cut balloons by sponging on Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Cherry Cobbler, Pretty in Pink, and Pumpkin Pie inks.  A doily was used for the circle element on the sketch.  Hemp twine was taped to the back of each balloon and all the ends were tied together near the bottom.  The balloons were then mounted on the doily with dimensionals. The horizontal panel was embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder and attached to the card.  Some messy stitching was added around the border.  The cupcake paper was stamped directly on a scrap piece of DP that had been die cut.  The icing was also die cut and sprinkles were stamped on using matching inks.  Stickles was added to the balloons and the sprinkles for a little sparkle.  I found that the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Timeless Classic Stamp Set fit perfectly on the banner to finish the card.

Be sure to check out all the fabulous samples created for you by the Sugar Babies and join us this week at The Sweet Stop!

Happy Flowers

Phew...I finally feel that I'm caught up...at least until the next big project comes around!  Hello all...hope you've had a wonderful week.  We've had a lot of rain here lately...the old saying about April showers proved to be true this week! LOL! I thought some bright, cheerful flowers would help brighten the day, so I reached for a Sweet 'n Sassy stamp set called Happy Place for my sample for The Sweet Stop Challenge this week.  Since it's the third week of the month, there's a spin and a prize...just make a Happy Birthday card for SSS207 and you could randomly be selected to win a $15 Gift Certificate to the Sweet 'n Sassy Store!

Creative Nugget:  The sketch was followed closely to create the layers for the base of the card using Solar Crest, Limeade Ice, Blueberry Sky, and Real Red card stocks.  Some clouds were sponged on the  base layer and on the flower panel with Faded Jeans Distress Ink.  The flowers were stamped and paper  pieced using My Mind's Eye DP.  The grass was drawn in with some Copic Markers.  The "happy" was cut from one of the sentiments from the Happy Place stamp set and adhered to a cloud, while the "Birthday" from the new Script Birthdays set was stamped right on the cloud from the Clouds & Raindrops Die Set.   A few of the raindrops were added and given a coat of Glossy Accents.  A double Baker's Twine bow, some pins, and a MS butterfly punch out complete the card.  Hope this card will brighten your day!

Please take time to see what the other Sugar Babies have created for you and play along with us this week over at The Sweet Stop!

The banners were hand cut and attached on the diagonal.  The package from the Birthday Bash stamp set was also stamped in rainbow colors and cut with the matching Birthday Bash Die Set.  The card front was matted in True Black and mounted to a Solar Crest card base.  A few pearls, Baker's Twine, and a button were added to finish the card.

Here is a sample using the Birthday Innies Set:

Creative Nugget: For this sample I decided to feature the Birthday Innie on the outside!  Kaisercraft patterned papers were stitched to True Black card stock and mounted to a Solar Crest card base.  The birthday sentiment was stamped on a Labels One Die and matted on a Decorative Labels One Die.  A Decorative Frame Topper was stamped above and beneath the sentiment.  Some seam binding was dyed to match the card for a bow.  Button twine and pearls were added.  The flower is actually an organza brad.  The prongs were cut off so it could be attached to the bow.  This card is a CASE of one made by Ellen Parker who is today's Featured Stamper on Splitcoaststampers!

Now on to my Sweet Stop Sketch sample, which features the new stamp set Birthday Bash and the Birthday Bash Die Set!

Creative Nugget:  The three circle shapes in the sketch were perfect for balloons and Jennie challenged us yesterday to use primary colors, thus the idea for this card was hatched!  Solar white and True Black panels were layered, creating a frame for the balloons.  The speckled background was made with the confetti stamp in the set.  The blue balloon was die cut and the blue balloon shape and the words were stamped using two different stamps from the set.  The other two balloons were made from sparkle paper   and circle punches.  Some Glossy Accents and glitter were added to all the balloons to make them really sparkle. The bows on the balloons are dies...YEA!  Some hemp twine was added for the strings and wrapped around and behind the sentiment banners which were hand cut.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KORIN!  Hope you had a wonderful day!!!!!

Milestones

Hello sketch lovin' friends!  It's Saturday and time for another fabulous sketch at The Sweet Stop, but wait...today we've reached a MILESTONE...200 sketches! That's right...today is the 200th sketch at The Sweet Stop! So...we are going to celebrate!  Not only do the Sugar Babies have some wonderful samples to spark your creativity, but we've each chosen our personal favorite sketch from the past.  In honor of the 200th sketch, we are giving a PRIZE to one lucky participant...a $20 gift certificate to the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store.

First...my favorite sketch from the past!

This card was created using SSS165.  These pretty vintage papers work so well with the sweet image of the mother holding her baby from the Vintage Baby clear stamp set by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.  Since I love working with layers, and matching colors and patterns, this sketch was right up my alley.  You can find the details and the sketch for this card on my blog post found HERE.

Now...on to this week's sketch!

Creative Nugget: Look...another sketch with layers!  LOL!  One image from Long Stem Silhouettes was stamped in Spun Sugar and the other one stamped in Soft Suede right on the patterned paper.  A little Copic shading was added to the silhouette for depth. The Basic Grey papers were stitched to Vintage Cream and Kraft card stocks.  The lace and trim added were from a local fabric store and matched the colors of the DP perfectly.  The sentiment banner was hand cut, and pearls were added to the centers of the flowers to finish the card.

Check out the other Sugar Babies for some fabulous samples and be sure to help us celebrate by joining us at The Sweet Stop for SSS200!  Just link up your card using the Linky Tool to be eligible for the PRIZE!

Here is my Black and White sample:

Creative Nugget: The darling vintage image from the Little Girls stamp set was stamped using Versafine Onyx Black ink and cut with a Labels One Die.  Just a bit of Spun Sugar Distress ink was added to the edges while still in the die. A combination of black and white papers from the Enchanted Paper Collection by Bo Bunny, Spellbinders dies, and a Cheery Lynn Sweetheart Frame die were used to frame the little girls.  The sentiment from the same set was cut from a Spellbinders tag and sponged with a very little bit of Spun Sugar.  A Wrinkled Ribbon bow was dyed with the Spun Sugar ink pad and added to the card along with a few little pink heart crystals...I just had to give these little girls a touch of pink!  LOL!
