And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, and to love kindness
and mercy, and to humble yourself and walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8)

For the Lovebirds

Hello again, friends!  This is my second post, just a short one, for today so scroll down for the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps July Release Feature or click HERE.

I usually don't get a chance to play along with the Clean & Simple (CAS Challenge) over at Splitcoaststampers because of my work schedule, but my schedule has changed and so I got to play along today.  CAS is difficult for me since I love layers, but I'm trying, so be nice!  LOL!

Creative Nugget:  We were to use Sahara Sand, Melon Mambo, Primrose, and White for the colors.  I had to substitute Pretty in Pink since I didn't have the Primrose color.  The bird cage from the newly released stamp set, To the Lovebirds by Our Daily Bread Designs, was stamped in VersaMark ink on Sahara Sand paper and cut with the matching die from the Bird Cage and Banners Dies.  The doors of the birdcage were cut open using a craft knife to reveal the lovebirds inside.  The banner and sentiment from the Banner Sentiments stamp set were stamped and die cut as well.  The birdhouse image was stamped again using pretty in Pink ink on a Solar Crest panel to create a kind of shadow.  Piercing was added to this panel...not a CAS technique, but I couldn't resist, before matting it with with Sahara Sand.  An e.k. success border was punched from Melon Mambo and added to the panel along with some pretty ribbon before adhering it to a Solar Crest card base.  A few scattered gems were added to finish the card.

Here are the materials used that can be found at the

Thanks so much for stopping by....again!  Have a wonderful day!

Hugs,
Cathymac

ODBDSLC140 - Love

Hello friends!  So glad you could stop by...it's Tuesday and Our Daily Bread Designs has a LOVELY Shining the Light Challenge for you this week!

This week's challenge is:
LOVE - use pink, white, and red or hearts, in honor of Valentine's Day.  The hearts can be in an embossing folder, embellishment, or designer paper.

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a PRIZE, a $15 gift certificate to the Our Daily Bread Designs store!!  Entries for the prize must be submitted by Saturday, February 3rd at 8 p.m. EST.  One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday.

While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them.  As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing three or more of our participants for the Shining the Light Award.  In order to qualify for this award; however, you must use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Sunday, February 3rd at 8 p.m. EST.  If you upload your creation to Splitcoaststampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword ODBDSLC140.  When posting your creation on your blog, please include a link to the challenge.

By this shall all [men] know that you are My disciples, if you love one another [if you keep on showing love among yourselves].  (John 13:35)

My sample for this week's Shining the Light Challenge is a Tent Topper card.

Creative Nugget:  Two complementary patterns were chosen from the Kissing Booth Paper Pad by BasicGrey and stitched to Early Espresso card stock, then mounted to a Fine Linen card front.  Ribbon and a bow were added along with a tiny ribbon rose.  The intertwining hearts are from the Love One Another stamp set and were colored with Copic Markers.  Oval and Floral Oval Dies were used to cut and mount the image panels, and a little sponging added while still in the die.  A few heart crystals were added as accents to highlight the wonderful verse from the third chapter of John!

Wedding Day

Mike and I are off to a wedding today.  The bride could not have ordered a more beautiful day...the sun is shining and there's no hint of rain!  Of course I'm once again making a card at the last minute!  Lately it seems I spend so much time checking out other blogs and looking through card galleries, that I don't get the cards made that I need!  Anybody else have that problem?

Inspirational Nugget:  Time wasters...how easy it is to just fritter away the time.  (Is that PA Dutch or what?)  I can find all kinds of things to get caught up in so I don't ever get to the important things that need to get done: house cleaning, report cards, visiting a sick friend in the hospital, making that card that will bring encouragement to someone.  And then when I'm up at 3:00 in the morning getting the important thing done, I wonder why I'm feeling tired!  Oh Lord, help me to manage my time better!  The Lord does have a solution to my problem...and yours, if you are a procrastinator like me.  Ephesians 5:15-17 says, "So be very careful how you live.  Do not live like those who are not wise, but live wisely.  Use every chance you have for doing good, because these are evil times.  So do not be foolish, but learn what the Lord wants you to do."  We only get one chance at this life and it is but a mist.  (James 4:14)  So, Lord, forgive me for frittering away my time, and help me to use my time here on earth wisely.

Creative Nugget:  This is the wedding card I made for the wedding we attended today.  Anne found this Plates and Napkins site for the Inspiration Challenge today at SCS.  One of the blocks on this guest towel  inspired the colors for my card.  There is absolutely no stamping here...gasp!  I used designer paper from the Capella paper pad by BasicGrey, a punched and embossed heart, the computer, a die cut doily,  added some embellishments and one wedding card complete!  Thanks for stopping by...have a wonderful Memorial weekend!

Hugs,
Cathymac
