Fall into Christmas

Hello friends!   Now that fall is officially here, I plan to enjoy the crisp mornings and falling leaves even though we are already seeing signs of Christmas!  Today I am sharing several cards from the SNSS August and September 2018 releases on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog.  First...my fall card:

Creative Nugget:  This jolly scarecrow from the Happy Scarecrow stamp set just make me so...HAPPY!  All of the images were colored with Copic Markers and were mounted to a watercolored panel made with Distress Oxide Inks.  The brown horizontal panel was also made with DOX inks and the Texture Tiles 2 stamp set. The sentiment was cut with a stitched circle die and some jute twine was added to complete the card.

Now...on to Christmas!

Creative Nugget:  The holly leaves from the Winter Birds set was stamped around the outside border of a panel and colored with Copic Markers.  The center of this panel was cut with a stitched rectangle die.  The sentiment was stamped, a Texture Tiles 3 image was lightly stamped in blue ink and texture was added with an impression plate.  The panel was mounted to black card stock and popped back onto the border.  The dove was colored, cut out and mounted to the center with foam tape and sequins were added to finish the card.

Christmas with Winter Birds

Hello friends!  Today I am sharing two cards on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog using the wonderful new Winter Birds stamp set designed by Krista Hamrick!

Creative Nugget:  The cardinal and the chickadee from the Winter Birds stamp set were colored with Copic Markers, cut out, and placed on the hanging ornaments which were made with an old retired ornaments die.  The ornaments were layered onto a textured background with some holly leaves in the corner.  The sentiment was white embossed on a black banner.  Some Glossy Accents on the berries and metallic thread bows finish off the card.

Creative Nugget:  The black color block frame was cut with a Tailored Expressions die and each section of the frame was filled with elements from the Winter Birds stamp set.  Black Nuvo drops were added for some extra texture.

These Christmas cards will be perfect for some of the "boys" in my family this Christmas!

Good morning, friends!  Today we are taking another look at the ODBD September 2018 Release.  September's release is all about music.

My first sample uses the new the Marvelous Things stamp set

Creative Nugget:  The Tri-Shutter Card Die was used to cut the card base.  Papers from the Notable Notes Paper Pad were cut with the Tri-Shutter Layers Dies.  The Musical Notes Background Die was used to cut the black musical score which was layered onto the center panel. The instruments from the Marvelous Things set were stamped on an Oval Stitched Rows die cut while the sentiment was embossed on a panel cut with the Pierced Circles Die and layered onto papers cut with a Circles Die and a Fancy Circles Die.  The treble clef was cut with one of the Musical Notes Dies and added to the sides of the card.

My second sample uses the Old Rugged Cross Background and Musical Notes Dies.

Creative Nugget:  The Old Rugged Cross Background was stamped onto one of the papers from the Notable Notes Paper Pad and cut with a Pierced Rectangle Die.  Coordinating papers were cut with a Leafy Edged Border Die and layered on the bottom of the Old Rugged Cross panel.  Ornamental Cross Dies and Musical Notes Dies were also cut from Notable Notes papers and black card stock to embellish the card.  A sentiment from the Marvelous Things set was embossed on a Pennant Flag die cut banner to finish the card.

SNSS - Winter Birds

Hello friends!  Praying for those on the East Coast as they prepare for Hurricane Florence...stay safe!

All the rain we've been having is an incentive to stay inside and get stamping projects finished.  Today I'm sharing a card using the new Winter Birds stamp set just release by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, a new technique, and the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch.

Creative Nugget:  Forest Moss, Cracked Pistachio, Tumbled Glass, and Faded Jeans Distress Oxide Inks were applied directly to a tree stencil. This was spritzed with water and pressed onto a piece of heavy mixed media paper.  I rubbed the back of the stencil with a paper towel, carefully lifted the stencil off the paper and dried the inks with a heat tool to create the background.  A frame was cut using stitched rectangle dies.  The sentiment from the Truth Quotes 1 stamp set was embossed inside the frame. The blue jay and holly leaves from the Winter Birds set were colored with Copic Markers and Glossy Accents applied to the berries.  Clear Nuvo Drops were added to finish the card.

Hello friends!  It's time for another Two for Tuesday feature over at Our Daily Bread Designs.  Time for a musical birthday celebration!

Creative Nugget:  The Musical Notes Background Die was use to cut the musical score which was attached to a white panel cut with a Pierced Rectangle Die.  A third white panel was cut with one of the Leafy Edged Borders Dies on which a sentiment from the Marvelous Things stamp set was embossed.  The new Alphabet Flags Dies were used to cut the "CELEBRATE" banner. The paper pieced cupcake was stamped and cut with the All God's Blessings Stamp/Die Duo.  A dusting of Frosting Powder was added to the icing on the cupcake...YUM!

Creative Nugget:  Paper from the Birthday Bash Paper Collection was added behind the Musical Notes Background.  Musical notes were cut with the new Musical Notes Dies and added to the card. A Fancy Circle die cut was added behind the cupcake to finish the stepped up version.

Throwback Thursday - Flourished Star Pattern Die

Hello friends!  It's Throwback Thursday over at Our Daily Bread Designs and the feature for today is the Flourished Star Pattern Die.  While this die is perfect for creating cards for any occasion, I chose to use it to complete a Christmas card for the upcoming Christmas season.

Creative Nugget:  After cutting the Flourished Star Pattern Die from White card stock and embossing it, a frame was cut using one of the Splendorous Star Dies.   The Holy Night Die was used to cut the manger scene from black card stock which was layered behind the frame.  The frame and manger scene were mounted to paper from the Winter Collection 2014.  The small Splendorous Star Die was also cut from the paper and adhered to the frame.  The sentiment was stamped onto a Large Banner die cut which was placed under the silhouette scene.  Gem stones were added to complete the card.

Autumn Mums Birthday

Hello sweet friends!  Today I'm sharing two cards on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog...this is one of them.  Now that September has arrived, it will not be long until we start to see the splash of beautiful fall colors displayed on trees and foliage.

Creative Nugget:  Distress Oxide inks were applied to a stencil, spritzed with water, and pressed onto mixed media paper to create the background. The mums from the Autumn Mum Greetings were masked and stamped onto the bottom of the panel.  A rectangle was cut from the panel and the mums on this portion were colored with Copic Markers.  The colored mums were mounted to black card stock and popped back into the card.  Several more mums were colored, cut out, and popped onto the card for additional dimension.  A sentiment from the So Happy stamp set, some twine, and a few splatters were aded to finish the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by...have a wonderful weekend!
