And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, and to love kindness
and mercy, and to humble yourself and walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8)

ODBDSLC147 Spring Has Sprung

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  Time for a new Shining the Light Challenge at the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog! What a tease this weather has been.  Just when we thought warmer days were on the way, we get hit with frigid temperatures! We even had SNOW yesterday!  I, for one, am ready for Spring!  If you are, too, this week's challenge will be right up your alley!

This week the challenge is:
Spring has Sprung
We want to see your spring creations with Our Daily Bread Designs stamps.

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a PRIZE, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!!  Entries for the prize must be submitted by Sunday, March 24th at 8 p.m. EST. One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday.

This week we do want you to use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps.  We will once again be choosing three or more participants to receive the Shining the Light Award.  In order to qualify, you must use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Sunday, March 24th at 8 p.m. EST.  If you upload your creations to Splitcoaststampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword ODBDSLC147.  When creating your posts on blogs, please include a link to the challenge.

Since pussy willows are one of the first signs of spring, I used the Happy Spring stamp set for my sample.

Creative Nugget: Both the pussy willow and the sentiment were stamped with Tuxedo Black ink and cut with Labels Eight Dies and framed with Decorative Labels Eight Dies.  The pussy willows were colored with Copic Markers and both panels were sponged with a little Tattered Rose Distress Ink while still in the die.  The card front was made by stitching some elegant Graphs 45 papers to True Black card stock and mounted on a Vintage Cream card base.  A corner accent and pearls were used to finish the card.

Here is the Our Daily Bread Designs stamp set, Happy Spring, that was used for this card:

Springtime Blessings

Hello everyone!  Hope you've been enjoying all of the wonderful samples for the February Release.  This is the fourth and final day of the Sweet 'n Sassy February Release Feature Mini Hops.

Today the featured set is...

It wouldn't be Springtime without beautiful birds and blooming trees.  This wonderful set reminds us how special we are to God and will encourage your loved ones to feel the same way.
  • Set includes 1 image and 6 sentiments
  • Set measures approximately 6" x 4"
  • Image measures approximately 3" x 2 1/2"
  • Illustrated by Chris Dickinson
  • Cost is $15

I just loved coloring this beautiful image.  Here is my Springtime Blessings card made with this set!

Creative Nugget:  The darling sparrow image was colored with Copic Markers, cut with a Circle Nestie, and pierced.  This panel was mounted on a Soft Suede Circle Nestie, and a Splendid Circle Die which had been cut in half...one half going on the top and one going on the bottom.  BasicGrey patterned paper was stitched to Soft Suede card stock and mounted to a Solar Crest card front. The sentiment was stamped on an oval nestie.  The rolled roses were made by punching a scalloped circle, cutting it in a spiral, and rolling the spiral from outside in. Little pearls were glued to the inside of the roses.  Other embellishments include ribbon, a pearl brad, and die cut leaves.

For more fabulous ideas using this set, see the thumbnails below and visit the other talented Design Team members!

Be sure to leave a comment on each of the blogs along the way because we're giving away this adorable stamp set to one lucky commenter!

The deadline to comment for a chance to win is midnight EST Wednesday, February 13th.  The list of winners will be announced on our website homepage on Thursday, February 14th.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I'm sure you will enjoy this hop as well as the others!  Have a wonderful day!

Cathymac

Spring is in the Air!

Hello friends!  Don't you just love Spring?  We've had such a glorious week here...wonderful weather, birds chirping, flowers blooming, time to create!  Saturday has come again and that means it's time for another challenge at The Sweet Stop!

Inspirational Nugget:  Spring...what a perfect picture of how God works in our lives.  He takes the dormant, barren, winter times of our lives and brings forth new growth and a fresh outlook...Sorrow may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning!  (Psalm 30:5)  Praise the Lord!

My sample for today was made with Spring in mind!

Creative Nugget:  Hearing the birds chirping outside my crafting place caused me to reach for this adorable clear stamp set by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, "One of a Kind."  I followed the sketch for this week pretty closely.  The image is colored with copic markers, cut out, and adhered to an oval nestie sponged with some clouds.  The colors were inspired by Bridget's "Hump Day" challenge on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Forum at SCS which was to use aqua and red.  My aqua was more turquoise, but I really liked this combination...it's so cheerful!  The patterned paper was by My Mind's Eye and was perfect for the sketch and color challenge!

And keeping with the bird theme, here is the Christmas version:

All of the samples by the Sugar Babies this week are fabulous...aren't they always!  Be sure to stop by and see all of them!

I hope you have a chance to enjoy Spring wherever you are this weekend, and can find some stamping time to capture a bit of Spring! Thanks for stopping by for a visit!

Hugs,
Cathymac
