Precious Poppies

Happy Saturday sketch lovin' friends!  It's time for a new sketch at The Sweet Stop!  It's hard to believe it's Easter weekend already...maybe because it seems so early for Easter...or maybe because the weather has been anything but spring like, but no matter the reason, it's good to know that we can celebrate our risen Savior this Sunday!  In fact, we can celebrate Easter every day of the year because HE LIVES!

I do not have an Easter card to share with you, but I do have a sneak peek of two gorgeous new stamp sets being released this coming Friday by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.

Creative Nugget:  The Poppy Background was stamped all over a Cherry Cobbler panel and attached to True Black card stock and to a Solar Crest card base.  The pretty poppies, one of three images in the Precious Poppies clear stamp set, were stamped on another Solar Crest panel in Tuxedo Black and colored with Copic Markers.  The sentiment, also from the Precious Poppies set, was stamped right over the image.  Flag accents were stitched to the card.  Black pearls and a little Baker's Twine bow were added to finish it off.  This card came together easily and I really like the bold colors...hope you do, too!

It's amazing to me how one sketch can evolve into so many different and varied styles, but you won't want to miss checking them out.  Be sure to visit the very talented Sugar Babies for more wonderful inspiration for this sketch, and be sure to join us this week over at The Sweet Stop!

This week the challenge is:
He is Risen with Pastels
Make a project or card displaying a cross, verse, or sentiment about the true meaning of Easter (not commercialized...bunnies...).  This challenge will last two weeks!!

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a PRIZE, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!!  Entries for the prize must be submitted by Sunday, April 7 at 8 p.m. EST.  One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday.

While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them.  As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing three or more of our participants for the Shining the Light Award.  In order to qualify for this award; however, you must use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Sunday, April 7 at 8 p.m. EST.  If you upload your creations to Splitcoaststampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword ODBDSLC148.  When creating your posts on blogs, please include a link to the challenge.

For my card, I used the He Is Risen Stamp Set.

Creative Nugget: The verse was stamped on a Classic Oval Nestie and the cross was then very lightly overstamped.  A little piercing was done before mounting the panel on Opulent Oval Dies.  This was adhered to an embossed panel, some patterned paper, and finally to a Solar Crest card base.  The sentiment was cut with a Fancy Framed Tag Die and ribbon, a flower and pearls were added to finish this pastel Easter card!

To see more Easter cards in pretty pastels, please check out the other Sister Sticks

Please join us this week at the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog...can't wait to see your beautiful creations!

Butterfly Flourish

Happy Spring everyone!  Well...spring may officially be here, but the weather is not cooperating with the new season!  I'm ready to say good-bye to winter, so for my new sample for The Sweet Stop, I grabbed some butterflies and spring colors!

Creative Nugget:  I found this Graphics 45 patterned paper in my stash and thought the Butterfly Flourish stamp by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps would work well with this week's sketch.  Both sides of the DP were used to make the three panels on the card front and were stitched to Early Espresso card stock.  This was mounted to a Vintage Cream card base.  The butterflies were stamped on Vintage Cream card stock, colored with Copic Markers, and mounted to an Early Espresso Gold Labels Four Die.  An extra set of butterflies were cut out and popped up for dimension.  The sentiment is from the new Be Encouraged stamp set and was cut with a Spellbinders banner die.  An organza brad and some pearls finish the card.

These stamp sets were used to create this card:

         Be Encouraged                          Butterfly Flourish

I hope you'll be able to join us at The Sweet Stop this week. Be sure to check out the wonderful samples created by the Sugar Babies for your inspiration.

ODBDSLC147 Spring Has Sprung

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  Time for a new Shining the Light Challenge at the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog! What a tease this weather has been.  Just when we thought warmer days were on the way, we get hit with frigid temperatures! We even had SNOW yesterday!  I, for one, am ready for Spring!  If you are, too, this week's challenge will be right up your alley!

This week the challenge is:
Spring has Sprung
We want to see your spring creations with Our Daily Bread Designs stamps.

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a PRIZE, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!!  Entries for the prize must be submitted by Sunday, March 24th at 8 p.m. EST. One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday.

This week we do want you to use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps.  We will once again be choosing three or more participants to receive the Shining the Light Award.  In order to qualify, you must use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Sunday, March 24th at 8 p.m. EST.  If you upload your creations to Splitcoaststampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword ODBDSLC147.  When creating your posts on blogs, please include a link to the challenge.

Since pussy willows are one of the first signs of spring, I used the Happy Spring stamp set for my sample.

Creative Nugget: Both the pussy willow and the sentiment were stamped with Tuxedo Black ink and cut with Labels Eight Dies and framed with Decorative Labels Eight Dies.  The pussy willows were colored with Copic Markers and both panels were sponged with a little Tattered Rose Distress Ink while still in the die.  The card front was made by stitching some elegant Graphs 45 papers to True Black card stock and mounted on a Vintage Cream card base.  A corner accent and pearls were used to finish the card.

Here is the Our Daily Bread Designs stamp set, Happy Spring, that was used for this card:

Bouquet Bunny

Happy Saturday, everyone and welcome to a new sketch at The Sweet Stop!  Since this is the third week of the month, there's a spin which means an opportunity to win a PRIZE...a $15 gift certificate to the Sweet 'n Sassy Store. With Easter right around the corner, we want to see those Springtime cards...pastel colors, new life, springtime flowers...can't wait to see what you come up with!

For my sample this week, I used a new image from North Coast Creations, Bouquet Bunny.  This little guy is as cute as can be, and so easy and fun to color!

Creative Nugget:  Patterned papers from doodlebug designs were stitched to Smokey Shadow card stock and a Solar Crest card base following the sketch design.  Bouquet Bunny was colored with Copic Markers and masked so the ground and sky could be sponged to ground the image.  The image was cut with a Circle Nestie using the out-of-the-box technique leaving the ears out of the circle.  Some piercing was done before mounting the image to a Smokey Shadow Nestie.  A Baker's Twine bow and some dew drops were added to finish the card.  Adorable and springy...don't you think?

The Sugar Babies have lots of wonderful inspiration for you this week.  Check them out and leave some love along the way...then join us for some Springtime stamping over at The Sweet Stop!

ODBDSLC146 Silver Anniversary

Welcome to another Shining the light Challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs!  Time flies by so quickly...it's hard to believe that Our Daily Bread Designs is celebrating five wonderful years already!

This week's challenge is:
Make an Anniversary Card with Silver

Since this week marks the 5th Anniversary of Our Daily Bread Designs and the gift for a fifth year anniversary is silverware, we would like to see your anniversary cards with silver on it.

To make the challenge more fun, we will be out a PRIZE, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs Store!!  Entries for the prize must be submitted by Sunday, March 17th at 8 p.m. EST.  One random winner will be chosen and announced next Sunday.

While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them.  As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing three or more participants to receive the Shining the Light Award.  In order to qualify for this award; however, you must use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Sunday, March 17th at 8 p.m. EST.  If you upload your creation to Splitcoaststampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword ODBDSLC146.  When creating your posts on blogs, please include a link to the challenge.

Here is what I created for the Silver Anniversary Challenge:

Creative Nugget:  I knew I wanted to use this newly released Happy Marriage Recipe for my card so it was stamped in Smokey Shadow ink on a Labels Eight Die.  The intertwining heart wreath is from the Love One Another set and was clear embossed over the recipe.  A little sponging made the wreath pop a little. The border was created with a border punch and attached to a square Solar Crest card base.  The silver DP was stitched to the front of the card.  A sentiment from the All Occasion Sentiments stamp set was masked so that only the Happy Anniversary part was stamped on the banner die.  Fanciful Flourish Dies, ribbon, paper flower, stick pins, pearls, and a charm were used to embellish the card.

The Our Daily Bread stamp sets used to create this card are Happy Marriage Recipe, All Occasion Sentiments, and Love one Another!

Flower Blocks 1

Hello everyone!  Welcome back to Day 4 and the final day of Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps March Release Features!  We have another fabulous stamp set to share with you today!

Today's feature is:
This gorgeous set of large flower block images is a dream to color.  You'll love adorning your Spring cards with these lovely images and sentiments.

  • Set measures approximately 6" x 8"
  • Images measure approximately 2 3/4" x 2 3/4"
  • Illustrated by Korin Sutherland
  • Set is priced at $26
I had so much fun coloring the gorgeous tulip in this set!  Here's my sample:

Creative Nugget: Can you believe there's no DP on this card!  The background panels were created by randomly stamping the tulip block first in Cherry Cobbler, then in Crushed Curry.  The edges were sponged before mounting each panel on matching card stock.  These were attached to a Square Solar Crest card base. Now the fun begins...the top panel was stamped in Tuxedo Black and colored with Copic Markers, bringing out the colors of the background panels.  The sentiment was stamped on a banner die and sponged a little while the banner was still in the die.  Gingham ribbon and pearls were added to finish the card.  I really like how this one turned out and hope that you do, too!

And here's the matching Birds & Feather Dies!

This fantastic duo is a must have.  Imagine the gorgeous cards you'll make!  The possibilities are endless AND this stamp set also coordinates so well with our other silhouette sets!
  • Set includes 13 images
  • Set measures approximately 4" x 6"
  • Queen Anne's Lace image measures approximately 2" x 2 1/2"
  • Designed by Korin Sutherland
  • Stamp Set is priced at $15
  • Die Set is priced at $9.75
Here is a card I made with this set:

Creative Nugget:  This card was my attempt at CAS!  After masking off a border with Post-It notes, a paint brush and some distress inks were used to lay down strokes of color on watercolor paper that had been brushed with water.  The paper warped a little as it dried, so I used an iron, no steam, to flatten it. When dry, the images were stamped using Versafine Onyx Black ink.  This panel was mounted to True Black card stock and attached to a Solar Crest card base.  No muss...no fuss...easy, peasy!  That's one of the advantages of a silhouette set...you can create a pretty card in no time flat!

Here's another card just finished this morning for the CAS and Technique Challenges over at Splitcoaststampers.
