Joyful Christmas - DD Color Challenge

Happy Saturday, everyone!  It's time for another Divinity Designs Color Combo Challenge. This month we are using colors inspired by papers from the beautiful Christmas Collection 2018.

This challenge was perfect for getting a jump start on my Christmas cards this year so I decided to use the pretty poinsettias from the Joyful Christmas Stamp/Die Duo for my sample.

Creative Nugget:  The Pop Out Card with Layers Dies were used to cut the base of my card from heavy card stock and the layers from the Christmas Collection 2018 papers.  Copic Markers were used to color the poinsettias which were popped onto a doily cut with one of the Fancy Circle Dies.  A Belly Band was cut to hold the card closed and the doily panel was mounted to the front of it.

When the Belly Band is removed the card pops open to reveal a sentiment from the Joyful Christmas Stamp/Die Duo.  The dies used to create the sentiment panel include the Layered Lacey Squares, Pierced Circles, and Circles.

These cards will be submitted for the following challenges:

Nuts About Fur-ever Friends

Hello friends!  Today I am sharing several cards over on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog using stamps released for the month of September.  I have been having so much fun with the Fur-ever Friends Stamp set...I'm just nuts about all of the adorable critters that are a part of this wonderful stamp set designed by Jennifer Nilsson!

Creative Nugget:  The background for my scene was created by applying Oxide Inks to a piece of acetate, spritzing it with water and patting and smearing the wet ink onto a piece of mixed media paper...blues on the top and greens on the bottom.  A smaller rectangle was cut from the panel, mounted to a piece of white card stock and popping it back onto the larger rectangle. The fence and clouds were cut with retired dies from SNSS and were popped onto the scene along with the cute critters from Fur-ever Friends which were colored with Copic Markers and cut with my Scan 'N Cut.  One of the sentiments from Fur-ever Friends was embossed on one of the clouds to finish the card.

Creative Nuggets:  Oxide Inks were swiped down a piece of mixed media paper and stamped with the wood slice from the Wood Background stamp set.  This panel was then embossed with the wood texture Impression Plate.  A circle was cut from the ring off the edge of the paper.  More texture was added to the wood background using one of the stamps from the Texture Tiles 2 stamp set.  This panel was popped onto a piece of brown card stock and the sentiment was white embossed.  The cute little squirrel, acorns and leaves from the Fur-ever Friends stamp set were colored with Copic Markers, cut with my Scan 'N Cut and popped onto the front of the card.

Looking Back at the Divinity Designs September 2019 Release

Good morning, friends...happy Friday!  Today I have several projects to share using products from the Divinity Designs September 2019 Release.

My first project is a cocoa gift set using the Perk Up Stamp/Die Duo and the Cocoa & Coffee Stamp/Die Duo.

Creative Nugget:  The card base was layered with papers from the Snowflake Season Collection.  Letter Board Dies were used to create the message on the sign board and dies from the Cocoa and Coffee Stamp/Die Duo were used to make the yummy mugs of hot chocolate and little decorative snowflakes.  Pearls were added to the centers of the snowflakes to finish the card.

I also made a matching Test Tube Holder with Test Tubes filled with cocoa and marshmallows.

Creative Nugget:  The Test Tube Trio Dies were used to cut the base of the holder from card stock and the layers from papers in the Snowflake Season Collection.  The sentiment is from the Perk Up Stamp/Die Duo.

My second card is a patriotic card using the new Sweet Land of Liberty Stamp/Die Duo and the America the Beautiful Paper Pad.

Creative Nugget:  The Star Quilt Dies were used to cut papers in the America the Beautiful Paper Pad and the pieces mix and matched to fit in the frame to create the quilt.  One of the sentiments from the Sweet Land of Liberty Stamp/Die Duo was masked and stamped onto a Pierced Circle making the quote with two different colors.  The flip flops were colored with Copic Markers, cut with the coordinating die and added along the bottom of the card.  A few sparkly gems were added to finish the card.

Cathy McCauley (You are here!)

For my first sample, I used the adorable Fur-ever Friends stamp set designed by Jennifer Nilsson.

Creative Nugget:  A background was made by sponging Oxide Inks on a mixed media panel.  The aperture with tree was cut from the sponged panel with the WindowRama Dies from Stampendous.  Foliage from the Scene Silhouettes: Wetland Grass stamp set was stamped along the bottom edge.  A second sunrise panel was also sponged with Oxide Inks.  The deer and mushrooms from the Fur-ever Friends stamp set were colored with Copic Markers and mounted onto the sunrise panel.  The foliage panel was popped on top.  The squirrel, sentiment and gems were added to finish the card.

My second sample is a Christmas card made with the new Deck the Halls stamp set designed by Rebecca Rios.

Creative Nugget:  Oxide Inks were sponged on the top part of a mixed media panel cut with a Leaf Stitched Frame Die by Penny Black.  The panel was embossed with falling snow and splattered with white acrylic paint.  The sentiment from Deck the Halls was embossed on the bottom of the panel.  The popcorn garland and Christmas ornaments were colored with Copic Markers and cut with my Scan 'N Cut.  The ornaments were hung with metallic thread from the garland to finish the card.

The September Stamp of the Month is Donut Worry and is free with a $75 purchase until the end of September.

Life After Coffee

Hello friends...happy Friday!  I am not a coffee drinker. **GASP**  I do; however, enjoy making coffee cards for my friends who do, and I especially like using some of the new coffee themed stamps and dies released by Divinity Designs this month.  For those who NEED a cuppa before starting your day...this card is for you!
Creative Nugget:  Chocolate colored Distress inks were sponged onto a piece of mixed media paper and cut with a Pierced Rectangle Die.  After the inks dried, VersaMark ink was sponged through the Hills Stencil and clear embossed to trap the color under the embossing.  Water was then spritzed onto the panel and some of the oxide color removed from the areas that were not embossed to highlight the detail of the stencil on the background.  The stencil was then embossed onto a piece of paper from the Latte Love Paper Pad and the raised edges slightly sanded to bring out the detail.  This panel was also cut with the Pierced Rectangle Die and the Leafy Edged Borders Die. The Coffee Heartbeat, Cocoa & Coffee, and Perk Up dies were cut multiple times and layered to add the details to the card.  The coffee cups on the Coffee Heartbeat were cut off one of the layers, Colored with Copic Markers and pieced back onto the heartbeat for added color.  The sentiment from the Perk Up Stamp/Die Duo was stamped onto a Sentiment Strips die cut to finish the card.

This card will be submitted for the following challenges:

Deck the Halls

Hello friends!  I know it is only September, but it is not too early to begin working on cards for Christmas.  The new Deck the Halls stamp set designed by Rebecca Rios just released by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps is a wonderful set for creating your holiday cards.  I'm sharing these cards over on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog as well.

Creative Nugget:  My first sample was made by creating a wreath with the holly leaves included in the Deck the Halls set.  Some of the leaves were cut out and popped onto the wreath for dimension.  The berries were stamped and covered with Glossy Accents.  The Christmas ball was colored with Copic Markers and hung from the wreath with metallic thread.  A bow was added, a sentiment embossed and a strip of patterned paper added to finish the card.

Creative Nugget:  On my second card, the popcorn and cranberry garland was stamped repeatedly across the card and colored with Copic Markers.  The cranberries were covered with Glossy Accents.  The Christmas balls were hung with metallic thread and the sentiment embossed on a stitched circle die cut.  Behind  the popcorn panel is a strip of red card stock on which the script from Texture Tiles 1 was white embossed.
