Hello Friend - DD Color Challenge

Happy Saturday, everyone!   It's time for the Divinity Designs Color Combo Challenge. This month we are using colors inspired by the papers from the Beautiful Blooms Paper Pad.

I have chosen to use the the Hello Friend Stamp/Die Duo for my sample.

Creative Nugget:  The card base was cut with the Double Display Card Dies and the Beautiful Blooms papers were cut with the Double Display Layers Dies.  I also used the Belly Band Dies to create a belly band to hold the card closed.  The sentiment from the Hello Friend Stamp/Die Duo was embossed on a panel cut with a Circle Die and layered to a Scalloped Circle die cut. Leaves from the stamp set were colored with Copic Markers, cut with the coordinating die and added to embellish the sentiment.

The card opens to reveal a couple flowers from the Hello Friend Stamp/Die Duo which were colored, cut and added to the inside sentiment panel to finish the card.

This card will be submitted for the following challenges:

Happy Day

Hello friends!  Today I am sharing two cards using some of the stamp sets from the SNSS April Release over on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog.  I was reminded of the Joseph's Coat Technique after watching a video on Jennifer McGuire's Blog and decided to try out some of her tips on my cards.

Creative Nugget:  A rainbow blend of Oxide Inks were applied to a mixed media panel.  The flowers from the Happy Day stamp set were clear embossed randomly over the panel.  A Versafine Onyx Black stamp pad was swiped over the entire card.  A paper towel was used to wipe off the black ink from the embossing and heat applied to bring back the shine on the embossing.  The Surrounded in Prayer image was colored with Copic Markers and the extra flower and butterfly were watercolored using the same Oxide Ink colors.

Creative Nugget:  The background for this card was made exactly the same way except instead of applying black ink over the embossing, white ink was used.  The sentiment from the Happy Day stamp set was black embossed on vellum and extra watercolored flowers were added to finish the card.

These card will be submitted for the following challenges:

I hope you will be inspired to give this fun technique a try!
Happy stamping!

Hugs,
Cathy

Another Look at the Divinity Designs April 2019 Release

Good morning, friends...happy Friday!  Today we are taking another look at the Divinity Designs April 2019 Release. The April release was perfect for mothers, daughters and grandmothers so I used some of the new products to make a Mother's Day card.

My clean and simple card features the Daughter's Best Friend stamp set and the Long & Lean Letters Dies.

Creative Nugget:  The peonies from the Daughter's Best Friend stamp set were white embossed on a mixed media panel cut with a Pierced Rectangle Die.  Pink inks were sponged over the embossing so that the color faded toward the middle of the panel.  The Arrows Stencil was placed over the flowers and ink was sponged through the stencil.  Long & Lean Letter Dies were used to cut the word "HUGS" from the panel.  The letters were cut four more times from white card stock and stacked with the sponged letters on top.  The letters were then popped back into the panel.  The sentiment was clear embossed over pink ink and the panel layered onto one of the papers from the Pretty Pink Peonies Collection.  A Treat Tags Die was used to cut banners from the same paper collection.  A few sequins were added to finish the card.

My first project was made with the new Surrounded in Prayer and Cheerful Hexies stamp sets.

Creative Nugget:  The image from Surrounded in Prayer was colored with Copic Markers.  Distress Oxide Inks were smooshed onto a piece of mixed media paper to create a background. Streaks of white gesso were applied to the background with a credit card.  The Cheerful Hexies were then randomly stamped using the Oxide Inks.  A rectangle die was used to cut an aperture from the panel which was then popped up over the group of people.  A thin frame was also cut using rectangle dies. The sentiment was cut with a stitched rectangle die.  Sequins and an organdy bow were added to finish the card.

My second fun project also used the Cheerful Hexies stamp set.

Creative Nugget:  Texture paste was applied to a mixed media panel through a honeycomb stencil.  Distress Oxide Inks were smooshed onto a mixed media panel.  The outline hexie was stamped multiple times onto the panel.  The hexes were cut out and popped onto the background.  The Sunshine Girl Alpha was used to stamp the word "BEE" in one of the hexagons.  The cute little bees are from the Scribble Flowers stamp set.  "Happy" is from the Cheerful Hexies set and was white embossed on a hand-cut black banner.

Here are the new stamps sets used for these projects
which are now available at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store:

Thanks so much for joining us today...hope you were inspired!   Don't forget to leave your comment before continuing on you way to be eligible for the prize.

Welcome to the Divinity Designs April 2019 Release

Hello, friends!  It's time again for another Divinity Designs Release...and this is not an April Fool's joke!  The April release is awesome and includes two floral stamp sets, a stencil and embossing folder for mixed media projects, plenty of new die sets, including one for piecing together a quilt and one to construct an explosion box and a gorgeous paper pad. Today I am sharing two projects using some of the new products.

My first sample is a Tri-Fold Card featuring some of the beautiful papers from the Pretty Pink Peonies Collection and the Grandmother's Heart stamp set.

Creative Nugget: The peony on the center panel was colored with Copic Markers.  The sentiment was stamped on a Filigree Circle and mounted onto a circle cut with a Circle Die.  If you are like me...you have a hard time getting rid of those little strips of paper.  I decided to use some of those strips for some paper ribbon and bows to decorate some of the other panels.  The bows were cut with the Small Bow Dies and the bows were added to finish the card.

My second project also uses papers from the Pretty Pink Peonies Collection and the Quilted Triangles Die.

Creative Nugget:  The Cross Stitched Embossing Folder was used to emboss the front of the card.  Seven different papers were cut with the Quilted Triangles Die and the pieces placed back into the quilt frames.  This gave me seven different quilt squares, six of which can be used on other cards so keep a lookout for more cards coming in future posts.  The sentiment from the Daughter's Best Friend stamp set was embossed on a panel cut with one of the Double Stitched Rectangle Dies and mounted to a Double Stitched Pennant Flag.  A little organdy bow was added to finish the card.

These new products from Divinity Designs were used to create the cards above...
