In the Garden

Hello friends!  I admit....I don't have a very green thumb and I'm not much of a gardener, but this year I decided to try growing a few tomatoes.  I am so excited....none are ripe yet, but there are tons of tomatoes on my plants!  I must say that I am much better at planting flowers on cards.  I've shared a few blooms over on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog and thought I'd share here as well.

Creative Nugget:  This card was actually inspired by my shower curtain.  The flower from the Mason Jar Bouquet stamp set was stamped multiple times and cut with the help of my Scan 'n Cut. These were mounted to a black panel to resemble my shower curtain.  No coloring....easy peasy!  Stripes were stenciled down the side and a white embossed sentiment added.

Creative Nugget:  The Faux Linen Technique was used on two pieces of glossy card stock.  Distress inks were sponged on to cover each panel and the honeycomb from the Sweet as Honey set was stamped on one.  The cards were then sanded first in one direction and then in the other to create the texture of linen. A stamp from the Long Stem Silhouettes set was stamped repeatedly in the corner.  A square aperture was die cut from one of the panels and the time-loved hymn from the Hymn Blocks set was stamped on the other so that it could be seen through the frame.  The bee was popped onto the card and a trail of gem stones added to finish the card.

These cards will be submitted for the following challenges:

Thanks so much for stopping by...take time to smell the flowers!

Looking Back at the ODBD August Release

Hello friends!  Today Our Daily Bread Designs is taking another look at the August 2017 Release!  The Breadstick Designers have hit the ball out of the park with these sports themed samples...just take a look!

My first sample is for the Football fan in your family.

Creative Nugget:  Papers from the Birthday Brights and Boho Bolds paper pads were cut with the Pierced Rectangle Die, cut into strips and sewn to the card front to create the football field.  The yard markers were cut with the number dies from the Sport Jerseys die set.  The footballs and sentiment are from the Football Stamp/Die Duo.  Three footballs were colored with Copic Markers, cut, and popped onto the card to make it appear as though the football is being passed down the field toward the goal.

The soccer ball actually rolls on this Spinner Card using the Soccer Stamp/Die Duo.

Creative Nugget: Papers from the Old Glory and Birthday Brights Paper Pads were cut with the Pierced Rectangle and Grass Hill dies to set the scene for the soccer game.  A stencil was made with the Clouds and Raindrops Dies and used to sponge the clouds making it a perfect day for a game of soccer.  The track for the ball was made with a 1/2" circle punch and a craft knife.  The Soccer sentiment was cut with a Pennant Flag Die.  My 4 year old grand niece plays soccer so this card will go to her!

Now, look at that ball roll!

This Side-Step Card shows the importance of Teamwork!

Creative Nugget:  The Side Step Card Die was used to create the card base.  Papers from the Old Glory Paper Pad were used to cover each of the panels.  One of the jerseys from the All-Star Jersey stamp set was stamped five times on white card stock and once white embossed on blue paper from the Old Glory Pad.  The sleeves were stamped on the patterned paper, fussy cut and pieced on all of the jerseys which were then cut with the coordinating die from Sports Jerseys.  I asked my DH what his favorite team numbers were and those went on each jersey.  The coach also received a whistle which was cut with a die from the Clipboard Set.  The sentiments from the Teamwork stamp set were stamped and cut with Pennant Flag, Pierced Circle, and Circle dies.

By the Sea

Hello friends!  Today's Splitcoaststampers Sketch is a fun one if you love a lot of layers.  This will be added to my much needed stash of masculine cards.  Off to the ocean we go...

Creative Nugget:  The Fishing Net Background was white embossed on a piece of mixed media paper and Oxide Inks were sponged on to coordinate with paper from the By the Shore Collection that shows through the window.  The pelican from the By the Sea stamp set by Our Daily Bread Designs was colored with Copic Markers and cut out to pop onto the front of the card. Since I needed a birthday card, I grabbed a sentiment from the Wishing Well stamp set.  A few clear Nuvo Crystal Drops were added to finish the card.

This card will also be submitted for the following challenges:
Crafting From the Heart Challenge #171 - Anything Goes
Moving Along With the Times Challenge 51 - Things that Fly
Simon Monday Challenge - Simon says: Happy Birthday

My first sample is for the Baseball fan in your family.

Creative Nugget:  The baseball image from the Baseball Stamp/Die Duo was stamped randomly all over the background panel cut with a Pierced Rectangle Die and colored with Copic Markers.  Paper from the Old Glory Paper Pad was cut with a Pierced Square Die, mounted on red paper from the same collection and stitched to the card.  Pierced Square bases were added.  One sentiment was cut with a Pierced Square and the other cut and matted with a Pennant Flag die cut and a Double Stitched Pennant Flag die cut.  Finally, an extra baseball was cut with the coordinating die and popped onto the card with foam tape.

My second sample uses the Golf Stamp/Die Duo.

Creative Nugget:  My Golf card is a Latch Fold Card.  After cutting and scoring the base of the card, paper from the Old Glory Paper Pad was mounted to each of the panels.  The green hills on the front of the card were cut from papers from the Birthday Brights Collection using a Leafy Edged Border Die and the Grass Hill Die and stitched to the card.  The hole on the green was cut using a Pierced Oval Die and a Circle Die.  A Pennant Flag Die, a Double Stitched Pennant Flag Die, and the handle die from the Bountiful Basket Set were used to make the flag.  The golf club was paper pieced using metallic silver card stock for part of the club.  The latch for the card was made with the golf ball from one of the sentiments in the Golf Stamp/Die Duo. Another sentiment was stamped on the inside of the card.

My third card of encouragement was made with the Teamwork and All-Star Jersey stamp sets and the coordinating Sports Jerseys Dies.

Creative Nugget: Papers from the Patriotic Collection and the Old Glory Paper Pad were cut with a Pierced Rectangle Die and mounted to the card front.  All of the other elements were made from the same paper collections.  The All-Star Jersey was stamped right on the striped paper.  Some of the red and blue paper was covered with VersaMark Ink and embossed with glittery embossing powder.  This paper and the Sparkling Stars Dies were used to cut all of the stars.  The Notebook Paper Stamp/Die Duo was used to make the panel on which the sentiment from the Teamwork set was stamped.  Other dies used include the Clipboard Dies and Sports Jerseys Dies.
