Hang in There

Hello, friends!  Happy Australia Day…our Australian friends from down under celebrate the first settlers from Europe landing in Australia on January 26th.  The Ways To Use It Challenge at Splitcoaststampers has decided to join in the celebration.  This may be a stretch...I could not find my koala OR my kangaroo, but I did discover that there are quite a few poisonous spiders that make their home on the continent.

Creative Nugget:  Granted, these spiders look harmless to me, but they are hanging down under.  The stencil chosen to use for the background reminded me a little of a spider web and was sponged lightly with Victorian Velvet and Twisted Citron distress inks.  The spiders are from the Buggin' Ya stamp set by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, and the sentiment was created with a fun new alpha called Lynzee Script Alpha.  The spiders' drop lines were enhanced with some doodling, stitching, and some metallic thread bows.  Splatters, messy stitching, and a few Bitty Sparkles were added to finish the card.  The design of the card was inspired by the Fusion Sketch.

There are also many varieties of beautiful flowers that can be found in Australia!

Creative Nugget:  Distress inks were dabbed on an acrylic block, spritzed with water, and smeared onto some mixed media paper to create the background.  Scribble Flowers were randomly stamped in Jet Black Archival ink, one of which was cut out and popped onto the card.  The sentiment is from a new stamp set by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps called God is For You.

These cards will be submitted for the following challenges:

Thanks so much for joining me for Australian Day…have a blessed one!

Looking Back at the ODBD January 2017 Release

Hello, friends! Today we are taking another look at the Our Daily Bread Designs January 2017 Release.  The Bountiful Basket Die along with the script dies and beautiful whimsical flowers are fabulous for creating projects for any occasion as you will see as you take a look at all the beautiful samples made by the Breadstick Designers.

My basket is filled with tea bags to wish the recipient a Tea-rrific Birthday.

Creative Nugget:  The basket was cut from card stock and the mats cut from papers from the Whimsical Wildflowers Collection using the Bountiful Basket Dies.  The basket was put together and decorated with roses from the Tea Time stamp set which were colored with Copic Markers and cut with the coordinating Teapot & Roses Die.  The sentiments were embossed and mounted to the basket with pieces cut with the Double Stitched Pennant Flags Die, the Pennant Flags Die, the Vintage Labels Die, and the Ornate Ovals Die.  The basket was filled with Easter grass and tea bags.

The coordinating card was made using the new Happy Birthday Script Die.

Creative Nugget: A matching card was made by layering and stitching papers cut with Pierced Rectangle Dies from the Whimsical Wildflowers Collection and the Plum Pizzazz Paper Collections.  The Happy Birthday Script was cut from Neenah card stock and the  negative space was used on the card.  I did save the little pieces from the letters to glue back in place.  The same roses from the Tea Time stamp set were used to decorate the card as were used on the basket above.  Pennant flags were added as well as a silk ribbon

ODBD Special February Pre-Order

Hello friends!  Our Daily Bread Designs is having a special pre-order for the new February 2017 release...just in time for your Valentine's Day crafting.  Get ready to be wowed by the beautiful samples today using the three new sentiment stamp sets, an adorable gable box die, and plenty of heart die options for creating cards and embellishing the gable box!

My contributions to the hop include a gable box
 and matching card.

Creative Nugget:  Sentiments from all three sentiment sets in the Loving Words Pre-Order Bundle were placed on my Misti and white embossed on a Neenah Panel.  Distress inks were sponged over the words.  A piece of paper from the Blushing Rose Collection as well as a matching piece of card stock were cut with one of the Leafy Edged Border Dies.  A piece of coordinating paper from the Blushing Rose Collection was cut with a Layering Hearts Die and adhered between the two Tulip Hearts die cuts, all part of the Gable Box Pre-Order Bundle.  A little seam binding ties everything together.

Creative Nugget:  The Gable Box Dies were used to cut the pieces needed for this adorable gift box and sponging was added to each panel while still in the die.  The insert dies were only used on the front two panels of the box.  The Layering hearts dies were used to decorate each side of the box.  A little tag cut with a Mini Labels Die was attached to the handle of the box.

Here is a view of the back of the box...

…and another view so you can see the sides.

The two bundles used to create this Valentine gift set are now available for pre-order at the Our Daily Bread Designs Store...

Stand Tall

Hello, friends!  Happy Friday and happy release day at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps!  Five new stamp sets have been added to the SNSS Store and I had fun creating a couple of cute cards with two of them.

Creative Nugget:  With thirteen different sentiments and this adorable giraffe, the Stand Tall stamp set is so versatile and can be used for many different occasions throughout the year.  All of the images were colored with Copic Markers and the card design came from the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge this week.
As the Deer was designed by a new designer at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, Jennifer Rydin, for our Creative Worship line and is great for Bible Journaling, but I chose to use the enchanting images in the set to make a card.

Creative Nugget:  A portion of the front panel was cut away so the circle could hang off the edge following the sketch at Splitcoaststampers this week.  Copic Markers were used again for the coloring and several of the images were fussy cut and popped onto the scene.

Here are the new stamp sets used which are available for pre-order today at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps:

Be Happy

Hello, friends!  The card I have to share today was created for one of my sketches over at Splitcoaststampers.  A wonderful new whimsical flower just released by Our Daily Bread Designs was used and the card qualifies for several other on line challenges as well.

Creative Nugget:  The Seeds of Today flower was stamped off center on a Pierced Rectangle die cut panel of Neenah card stock and colored with Copic Markers.  A little Fossilized Amber was sponged around the edges while the panel was still in the die.  The Circles, Pierced Circles, and frame were all cut from papers from the Whimsical Wildflowers Collection and the Plum Pizzazz Paper Pad.  Stitching was added to the little vertical strip behind the circles.  The butterflies from the Trois Jolies Papillons stamp set and the sentiments were embossed and the butterflies cut with the Tres Papillons Dies.  A metallic thread bow was added to finish the card.

This card will be entered for the following challenges:
Pile It On #124 - Colorfully Aware (Purple represents Alzheimers Disiease)
Just Us Girls #375 - Word Week: New (New Stamps and Papers)
Alphabet Challenge Blog - V for Violet
Moving Along With the Times - Something in the Air (Butterflies)

Have a wonderful day…and be happy!

Cathymac

Welcome to the ODBD January 2017 Release

Hello friends!  Happy New Year…and welcome to the first new Our Daily Bread Designs Release for 2017!  The January Release includes pretty whimsical flowers, two new Bible Journaling sets that are also perfect for creating cards and bookmarks, seven fabulous die sets, and two beautiful new paper pads.  The samples created by the Bread Stick designers are beautiful and are sure to provide plenty of inspiration.

Three randomly selected winners will each receive a $25 gift certificate to the ODBD Store to be used toward the purchase of ODBD Stamps found in the "stamps column" of the website just for commenting on the Design Team cards!  You have until January 2, 2017 at 9:00 p.m. EDT to leave your comments on the Designers' Blogs for a chance to win!  The Winners will be posted on the ODBD Blog on January 3rd, so be sure to check back there to see if you won!

My first sample was made using the new A Happy Hello stamp set and some of the beautiful Plum Pizzazz Papers.

Creative Nugget:  Plum Pizzazz Papers were used to line the panels of the Tri-Shutter 2 card base.  The "Wrinkle-Free Distress Technique" was used to add color to some mixed media paper. The whimsical flower image from the A Happy Hello stamp set was randomly stamped using Archival ink and these pieces were cut to fit the front and back panels.  The sentiment on the front was embossed on a Plum Pizzazz paper and cut with the Pennant Flags and Double Stitched Pennant Flags Dies.  The Fancy Fritillary Die was used to cut butterflies for the front and back panels and pearls were added.

The Art Deco Border was cut in half lengthwise and used for the top and bottom panels.  An additional sentiment from the A Happy Hello set was embossed and cut and framed with Oval, Pierced Oval, and Layered Lacey Oval Dies.  A narrow silk ribbon tied around the card keeps it closed.

My second sample is a Bible Journal page made with one of the new Bible Journaling stamp sets, His Timing.

Creative Nugget:  The Bible page from Ecclesiastes was prepped with two coats of clear gesso.  The clock from the Time stamp set was clear embossed twice.  Neocolor 2 crayons were used to watercolor the page and distress inks were added to age the page.  The clock was then stamped several more times with distress ink.  The His Timing image was stamped with Jet Black Archival ink and watercolored with the Neocolor 2 crayons.  A few splatters were added to finish the page.
