Fragrance of a Rose

Hello, to everyone on this glorious morning!  Why is it that a rose is the flower of choice to send to women on special days?  Is it because of their beauty or because of their fragrance or because of the symbolism or all of the above? In any case, the beautiful rose image in the new stamp set, Fragrance, released by Our Daily Bread Designs earlier this month is the focus of my card for today.  Linda challenged us to use reinkers on the Ways to Use It Challenge yesterday on Splitcoaststampers, so I watercolored the roses with distress reinkers.

Creative Nugget:  Roses were randomly embossed in white for the background panel, then dabbed onto watered down distress inks on my craft mat.  Three different shades of yellow were used and each was dried before adding the next color.  The sentiment panel was done the same way but without the embossed roses.  The roses were stamped in Watering Can Archival Ink and clear embossed.  The same three colors of distress reinkers were used to watercolor the roses. (Each time I type the word reinker, spellcheck replaces the word with reindeer…as if I colored the roses with reindeers! **giggle**)  The design of the card is from the Freshly Made Sketches for this week.

Lovely Lotus

Hello friends and happy Friday!  My card features two new stamp sets being released today at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, Lovely Lotus and Floral Pattern Background.  These two stamp sets are gorgeous when paired together.

Creative Nugget:  The Mojo Monday Sketch for this week was used for the design of this card.  The main background panel was made by applying Picked Raspberry Distress ink to a craft mat and spritzing with water.  A piece of Mixed Media paper was dabbed into the wet ink and dried with a heat tool…I'm so impatient!  The lotus buds were randomly stamped with Picked Raspberry ink and shading was added with Copic Markers…love the way this looks.  The smaller background panel was made by white embossing the Floral Pattern Background on pink card stock.  The Lovely Lotus was colored with Copic Markers and fussy cut, and the sentiment embossed in white.  A little stitching and some dyed silk ribbon finish the card.

Looking Back at the ODBD July 2015 Release

Welcome, my friends!  Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs July 2015 Release.  Get ready to see angel wings, beautiful roses, and window scenes, and to be inspired by what the fabulous Bread Sticks have prepared for you today using the new July products from Our Daily Bread Designs!

My sample today uses the new Welcoming Window Dies along with the Window Shutter and Awning Die and the Flower Box Fillers Dies.  These dies are perfect for creating window scenes all through the year!

Creative Nugget:  After die cutting all of the window and flower pieces the outside of the house was put together using papers from the Blushing Rose Collection.   Ornate Hearts were used on the shutters and the Fence and Grass Border dies were used to create the garden.  One of the sentiments from the Home Sweet Home stamp set was stamped on a Mini Tag and tied to the window frame.

Creative Nugget:  When the card is opened the tunnel panel allows you to see the inside of the house looking out.  The hanging samplers were made with the Sewing stamp set and the Sentiments Collection.  It's hard to see in the photo, but outside the window the sun is shining and a bluebird is flying.  These were made using the Sunburst Background Die, the bird from the Spread Your Wings stamp set, and the coordinating Birds & Nest Die.  The curtains on the window were made with a Beautiful Border die cut and the Window Dies.

Faux Tin Tiles

Hello friends!  It's thundering and pouring here, and Kody just jumped up on the bed…no loud noises for this big baby! Since I'm now awake, I thought I would post a card I made using faux tin tiles.

Creative Nugget: The Faithful Fish Pattern Die was used to emboss aluminum foil glued to a lightweight piece of chipboard creating the pattern for the tiles.  The panel was painted with white acrylic paint and when dry rubbed with blue and green Inka Gold. A Spellbinders Square Nestie was used to cut this piece into individual tiles.  Distress inks were used to make the "No Wrinkle Distress" panel on the background which was stamped lightly in Watering Can ink using the Fishing Net Background stamp.  The Waves on the Sea fishing boat image was watercolored using Distress Inks. A sailor's knot was tied around the card using dyed rope twine and Mini Tag Dies were used to create the tiny tags cut from left over scraps of faux tin.  The little sentiment is from the Mini Tag Sentiments stamp set.  All stamps and dies are from Our Daily Bread Designs and the design for the card was inspired by the Shining the Light Sketch Challenge for this week.

Salt & Pepper

Hello friends!  Have you ever noticed how many things go together perfectly?  My card today uses this week's Friday Feature by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, You & Me!  The darling images in this stamp set depict things that go together like peanut butter & jelly and coffee & donuts…you get the idea!  The image I used was the salt and pepper shaker because the flavors of salt and pepper just complement each other so well! So many foods eaten in the summer like corn on the cob, baked potatoes, eggs, and cantaloupe…yep…cantaloupe, taste better with salt & pepper!

Creative Nugget:  The Mojo Monday Sketch for this week was used for the design and scraps of black and white papers found in my stash were used to carry through the idea of salt and pepper. The image was colored with Copic Markers and a little bling was added for a pop of color.

The You & Me stamp set is on sale this week at the

Everything's Coming Up Roses

Hello friends!  I've been having so much fun with the new Fragrance stamp set released earlier this month by Our Daily Bread Designs.  I have two cards full of roses to share with you today.

The first is an easel card using the Fragrance stamp set and the colors from the Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge.

Creative Nugget:  My card is a CASE of THIS easel card created by Jo Ann Sinclair who was the Featured Stamper on Splitcoaststampers this past Sunday.  The easel base was lined with papers from the Blushing Rose Collection and die cuts made with the the Vintage Flourish Pattern Dies and the Vintage Labels Dies.  The rose image was colored with Copic Markers and fussy cut, adding an extra layer for dimension.  Some Fancy Foliage was added along with a few smaller flowers cut with the Birds & Nest Dies.  The sentiment on the  Recipe Tag die cut is from Ornate Border Sentiments and the one on the bottom panel is from the All Occasion Sentiments stamp set.  A few Butterflies and a silk bow were added to finish the card.

Here are two close up views of this easel card:

The second card, made from the same Fragrance stamp set, has an entirely different look:

Creative Nugget:  The rose image was stamped randomly using Watering Can archival ink on the top and KaiserCraft DP cut on an angle was added to the bottom.  A leftover strip of Shabby Rose Paper and a Beautiful Border die cut were added before cutting the panel with the Flourished Star Pattern Die and stitching along the diagonal.  The sentiment was cut using the Circle Ornament Die and matted with Smokey Shadow paper cut with the Matting Circle Die.  The roses, colored with Copic Markers, were fussy cut and popped up on the border of the sentiment panel.  Seam binding and pearls were added to finish the card.

Keep In Touch

Hello friends, and for those of you in the U.S., happy 4th of July weekend!  I have two cards to share with you today that are perfect for keeping in touch.

The first card is made with a stamp set being featured this week at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, Keep In Touch.

Creative Nugget:  Since the elements in the stamp set are vintage in nature, I decided to make this card a little Shabby Chic by adding a shabby bow, distressing the edges, and stitching the panels together.  The colors were inspired by The Card Concept Challenge for this week and the design by Freshly Made Sketches. The patterned papers came from an Authentique paper pad and were made a little more aged by applying ink to an acrylic block, spritzing it with water, and stamping it directly onto the DP.  A few ink splatters were added with watercolor paints.  The images on the card are from the Keep In Touch stamp set and were cut with the matching Keep In Touch Dies.  A few postage marks from the Parisian Postcard stamp set were lightly stamped and pearls added in the corner to finish the card.

The second card has a completely different look and was made using the Splitcoaststampers Sketch for this week.

Creative Nugget:  All the stamps and dies used on this card are from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.  The poppies are from the Mini Flower Blocks 3 stamp set and were colored with Copic Markers and cut with a Spellbinders Square Nestie.  The Anna Griffin Poppy embossing folder was perfect for the background.  The sentiment is from Keep in Touch, the featured stamp set for this week, and was cut with the edge of one of the Decorative Plaques Dies.  The Majestic Monarch was colored with Copic Markers and cut with the matching Monarch Die.  The panels were stitched together and a bow and pearls were added to finish the card.

Here are the products from the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store used to make both cards:

My first sample uses the new
Angels Descending stamp set.
Creative Nugget:  The "Wrinkle Free Distress Technique" was used on Mixed Media paper before it was embossed with the Sunburst Background Die to create the heavenly background for this card. A little sponging was done to highlight some of the rays. The vellum wings were cut with the Angel Wings Dies and the angel wings from the Angels Descending stamp set were fussy cut, covered with Stickles, and popped onto the vellum wings.  The sentiment was stamped on clouds cut with the Clouds & Raindrops Dies.  A rhinestone flourish and several smaller rhinestones were added to finish the card and give it some sparkle.

Love, love, love the new Fragrance stamp set!
Creative Nugget:  Diagonal lines were scored on the front of Neenah Solar Crest card stock to create the tiles for the front of the card.  The rose image from the Fragrance stamp set was randomly stamped over the front of the card and this panel was cut with the rectangle from the Flourished Star Pattern Die.  The roses were then colored with gray Copic Markers for a vintage look.  The tiles were masked and sponged with light pink ink.  This panel was then matted and stitched to the card base.  Frames were cut from card stock and paper from the Shabby Rose Collection using Layered Lacey Square Dies and Spellbinders Square Nesties.  The sentiment was added to the center of the smaller frame.  One of the roses was fussy cut and popped up on the corner of the smaller frame.  A bow made from seam binding and several pearls were added to finish the card.

Here are the two new stamp sets used on my samples now available at
