Taking a Look Back at ODBD December Release

Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs December Release!  I just love how versatile this release was…all of the stamp sets, sentiment sets, and dies coordinate perfectly.  In fact there are elements of each on my card sample for today.

Creative Nugget:  The Double Z-Fold card base was made with Whirlpool card stock by Bazzill following THIS TUTORIAL on Splitcoaststampers.  The first layer on the front of the card was stamped with the Ornate Background stamp in Lulu Lavender ink. Clear embossing the Ornate Background on Vintage Cream card stock and sponging over it with Dusty Concord Distress Ink created a contrasting layer which was stitched to the front of the card.  White embossing was used on the beautiful frame from the Ornate Borders & Flowers set and on the sentiment from the Ornate Borders Sentiments set.  The matching Ornate Borders & Flower Dies made cutting each layer easy, and I discovered in the process that four of the little corner dies fit perfectly inside the square on the frame.  Fancy Foliage Dies and pearls finish the front of the card. A seam binding bow was used to keep the card closed.
Here is what the card looks like when opened.  The sentiment on the inside is from the No Words stamp set and was stamped in Baja Breeze ink.  This stamp set is perfect for those times when there are no words to express what is in your heart.

Here are all of the materials available at the
Our Daily Bread Designs Store used to make this card:

    ODBD December Release

Hello friends!  Can you believe it's December already?  It is...and it's time for a new release by Our Daily Bread Designs.  I LOVE stamp sets that are versatile and can be used year round!  The December release by Our Daily Bread Designs fits that bill perfectly!   One stamp set, two sentiment sets, a background, and matching dies all coordinate to make creating cards for any occasion, from elegant to clean and simple, a breeze!  Just visit all of the designers' blogs for a sampling of the many ways these gorgeous stamp sets can be used.

Three winners will be randomly chosen from one of the designers' blog comments to receive a $25 Gift Certificate to the ODBD Store to be used toward the purchase of ODBD Stamps.  You have until December 2, 2013 at 9:00 p.m. EST to make your comments!  The winners will be posted on the ODBD Blog on December 3rd, so be sure to check back there to see if you won!

Creative Nugget:  Elements from the stamp sets were simply stamped in black on Vintage Cream card stock, cut with the coordinating dies, and layered to create this simple but elegant card.
    Here is the second one:
Creative Nugget:  Two panels were made by clear embossing the Ornate Background on Mixed Media paper.  The paper was spritzed with water and distress inks were added with a paint brush.  Course salt was sprinkled on and both panels were dried with a heat tool.  The salt was rubbed off with a paper towel creating a soft, subtle design.  Spellbinders Curved Borders Two Dies were cut and embossed on an angle to  make the border. Some seam binding was threaded through a hole punched in the little flower to make the corner accent.  Fancy Foliage flourishes and a few pearls finish the card.

My third sample is just a quick, clean and simple card using the Ornate Borders and Flowers, Ornate Border Sentiments, and the Ornate Borders and Flowers Die.
Creative Nugget:  To get the variation of color on the flowers, they were stamped with a Kaleidacolor ink pad.

Here are the products now available from the
Our Daily Bread Designs Store used to make my samples:

Taking a Look Back at the ODBD November Release

Hello friends!  Today Our Daily Bread Designs is taking a look back at the November 2013 Release.  Here is a card made using The Earth and Earth Verses, two of the new sets released earlier this month:

Creative Nugget:  In a world that seems to be spiraling out of control, where what is right is criticized and what is wrong is exalted, I love this verse that reminds us that we are to be the salt of the earth...to impact our world in a positive way.   The verse reminded me of the Salted Technique which was used for the background.  The Fishing Net Background was clear embossed on a piece of Multi Media paper.  Water was spritzed on the panel and Distress Reinkers were applied with a paint brush.  Course salt was then sprinkled on and spritzed again.  This was dried with a heat tool and the salt rubbed off with a paper towel.  I love the variations this technique achieved.  The Earth was stamped over another piece of salted background made without the embossed Fishing Net and cut with the ODBD Custom Circle Ornament Dies. The sentiment from the Earth Verses set was stamped on a piece of Solar Crest card stock and texture was added with an impression plate.  The background, designer paper, and the sentiment panel were stitched to True Black card stock, mounted onto Ocean Tides, and attached to a Solar Crest card base.  The Earth was mounted on the front of the card with foam tape.  A bit of Antique Border made with a scrap of the background paper was added along with some pearls and a twine bow to finish the card.

Here are the ODBD supplies used to create this card:

Here is another card using the Poinsettia Wreath stamp set and the matching Poinsettia Wreath Dies.  I have been having so much fun with the little poinsettia from this set...it is the perfect accent for Christmas cards.

This card was used for the sketch challenge on SCS this week and will also be entered into the Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge (ODBDSLC179) which was to make a holiday card (Thanksgiving or Christmas)...perfect for this time of year!

    Poinsettia Wreath

Hello friends!  I have a quick card to share with you that was made for two challenges... the Ways to Use It Challenge on Splitcoaststampers was to use a wreath on your card or project, and the sketch from the Shining the Light Challenge on the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog was used for the design.

Here's my card for both challenges:

Creative Nugget:  Nothing is as warm and inviting as a wreath on the door, and with Christmas just a few weeks away, I reached for this pretty Poinsettia Wreath just released by Our Daily Bread Designs this month.  The front of the card was made by stitching an Antique Border Die to some of the pretty papers from the Christmas Paper Collection 2013 and Cherry Cobbler card stock. This panel was mounted on a Vintage Cream card base and a gold pen was used to make a border around the card.  Both the wreath and the poinsettias were gold embossed on some of the other papers from the paper collection and cut with the matching Poinsettia Wreath Dies.  The head of the cardinal on the DP was slit to allow the wreath mounted on a Spellbinders Scalloped Circle Die to be tucked under.  The sentiment from the Gift of God set was gold embossed on vellum and a gold loopy bow was added to finish the card.

Here is the sketch that was used for the design:

And these are the supplies used that are available at the
