Everything New

Hope everyone is having a great beginning of a new week!  So far this week has been filled with new things.  My birthday was Monday, so I received some new pretties.  Yesterday I began a new part-time job...and I used some new things to make a new card!

Spiritual Nugget: "Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature;  the old things passed away;  behold, new things have come."  (2 Corinthians 5:17)  I'm so thankful the Lord's blessings are new every morning!

Creative Nugget:  This past Sunday, Sue (AKA bensarmom), was the featured stamper at Splitcoaststampers.  What a HUGE gallery to choose from!  As soon as I saw this  puppy get well card, I got my inspiration and knew what I would do!  I wanted to use my new Cheery Lynn doily die, some new Bo Bunny DP, and this new Christmas Puppy stamp from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.  And this was the result!  The puppy image was colored with copic markers.  Sparkle and dimension was added with Glossy Accents, Stickles, a jelly roll pen, and a Spica glitter pen.  The image was mounted on an English tea party doily die cut from DP.  All layers were mounted on a Cherry Cobbler card base.  Every time I work with this image, I'm hopeful that a new puppy will show up in my Christmas stocking this year!

As you go through your week, you may be surprised by all the new blessings you encounter!  Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs,
Cathymac

A Victorian Get Well

Happy Saturday, friends...and happy fall!  Yes, it's officially fall now...beautiful warm colors, crunchy leaves, cool crisp weather...don't you just love it!  The bad news is...it's supposed to rain all weekend here in my part of PA!  The good news is...it's time for another Sweet Stop sketch!  Whether it's sunny or rainy where you are, take some time to play along with us at The Sweet Stop!

Creative Nugget:  I totally rebelled in two ways with my card sample this week.  First, I did not go with a fall theme.  Second,  (gasp)... no copics!  Even though it looks black in the photo, the card base is Smoky Shadow.  My new square lattice embossing folder was used to give texture to the white layer.  This was sponged with some tea dye distress ink.  The beautiful papers are from the Victoria Gardens paper pad by Echo Park.  The shelf was stamped on the DP with  black onyx Versafine ink.  The teapot, teacup, and shelf scarf were all paper pieced.  A small rose was cut from DP and popped up as an accent.  The sentiment was adhered to the Spellbinders ribbon slide tag and tied on with some dotted Swiss ribbon.  Three black pearls in the bottom right corner finish the card.  My Sweet Stop friends have totally different sketch samples, providing you with lots of inspiration.  So hop on over to their blogs, leave some love, and then join the fun!

Altered Art

Happy Thursday!  Today is my day to share on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog!  Something fun and challenging to do is to take something old, something used, or an inexpensive item and transform it into a piece of stamped art.  I thought I would share an idea that's been around for a long time.

Inspirational Nugget:  While we might find it fun to alter a piece of "junk," God takes very seriously the job of altering us!  He accepts us as we are, but He doesn't leave us that way.  Just as the potter works on the clay, God works on us, and sometimes the molding and shaping is not so fun!  Sometimes it's painful, but we can trust that God knows what He is doing, and it is for our best.  As we worship God and get into His presence, we are changed into His very likeness.  When Moses came down from the mountaintop, his face was shinning.  It reflected the glory of God.  (Exodus 34:29).  When Jesus took Peter, James, and John to the mountaintop, Jesus' appearance was changed. (Matthew 17:1-2).  God wants our lives to reflect His glory, so let us allow Him to work on us, to alter us.  One day we will be changed in the twinkling of an eye!

This project began with the card.  The lovely titmouse image from the Peace of God stamp set was released in August and is one of many bird images at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps...if you like birds, you will need to check them all out!

Creative Nugget:  My card is a CASE of this beautiful Thinking of You card by Linda (AKA morningsun47), the featured Stamper on SCS this past Sunday.  The titmouse image is colored with copic markers.  The layout was kept pretty simple although I did add a few layers and some Baker's twine.

The little Post-It note holder was made from an inexpensive acrylic photo frame purchased at Michaels.  The stamped image slides into the frame where the photo goes.  The Post-It pad is sticky taped to the front of the frame.  A little ribbon loop adhered under the note pad holds a matching, beaded RSVP mini pen.  The pen was made by running a piece of BasicGrey DP through the Xyron and rolled around the barrel of the pen.  A piece of Scor-Tape covered the DP, and this was rolled in tiny mico beads.  Easy-Peasy...but it makes a nice gift set, don't you think?  Hope you've been inspired to try a little altered art for yourself!  Thanks for stopping by and come back again on Saturday for The Sweet Stop sketch!

Hugs,
Cathymac

Star Struck

Happy Saturday to you and welcome to another Sweet Stop sketch.  Since this is the third Saturday of the month, this week's sketch has a spin to it and that means...a prize!  The spin this time is to use stars somewhere on your card.  Now you would think with the VAST amount of supplies that I have I would be able to find some stars, but I came up empty...so, I found an adorable "Cocoa with Mittens" Digi image at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps store and set about to create my own background paper.

Creative Nugget:  I love how this background turned out!  Since I am in a Christmas mood lately, I reached for my new Bo Bunny Blitzen paper pad and started punching stars out of the various patterns.  The stars were arranged and adhered in a pleasing manner on a piece of select white card stock.  This was then put through the Big Shot with a herringbone embossing folder to embed the stars.  This was the result!  If you click on the image, you will be able to see the various patterns better.  I will be using the embedding technique again!

Here is how the card came together.  Using some black card stock, some Bo Bunny papers, and my created background, the panels were layered on a select white card base.  The "Cocoa with Mittens" image was colored with copic markers.  If you look closely you will see some texture on the mittens.  This was done with the tip of the colorless blender.  I did find some small gold confetti stars in my stash and colored them with a black copic marker and stickles.  A piece of twill tape and a little tag were added to finish the card.  What do you think?  Be sure to check out the other Sugar Babies, then play along at The Sweet Stop.  We love to see your creations each week!

Christmas Light

Hello friends and welcome to the last of the September Sweet Peeks for Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.  This is probably my favorite of all the new sets being released tonight!

This gorgeous set designed by Dina Kowal  includes one beautiful candle image and three sentiments.  The cost is only $11.00 AND the best part is that there is a die available for the candle image...WhoooHooo!

Creative Nugget:  I really love this set and how this card turned out.   The card base is Select White and the edges were sponged with Tea Die Distress Ink.  Next came a layer of Pinefeather, and then some gorgeous papers from the Bo Bunny "Father Christmas Collection."  A circle was cut with a nestie and sponged with the following distress inks in the order listed: Scattered Straw, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick, and Aged Mahogany.   This created a kind of glow behind the candle image which was colored with copic markers, cut out, and popped up on the sponged circle and backed with a Pinefeather scalloped circle nestie.  Lemon Yellow Liquid Pearls were added to the candle drips, Glossy Accents were added to the berries, and a jelly roll pen was added to the veins on the holly leaves for texture.  A bit of lace, a scalloped border, and some pearls finish the card.  You can see more fabulous samples made with "Christmas Light" on the SNSS Blog.

I hope you have been enjoying all of the September Sweet Peeks this past week and have your wish list ready because tonight is the night all nine new Christmas sets will be revealed.  The release party begins at 8:00 PM on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps forum over at SCS!  There will be contests, prizes, and lots of chatter!  Hope you can make it!

Hugs,
Cathymac

Christmas Tags Sweet Peek

Hello friends!  I'm back again today with another peek at a fabulous new Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps set being released on September 15th.  This stamp set is so versatile that you will definitely want to add "Christmas Tags" to your stamp collection.  You'll find yourself reaching for it time and time again as you decorate all your gift bags and packages not only at Christmas, but all year long!

Included in this set is a beautiful tag frame, to and from stamps, 16 phrases in two beautiful fonts for mixing and matching sentiments, and a dividing line to separate the different elements on the tag.  You'll also find that the frame coordinates well with some of the Nestability dies that you already own!

Creative Nugget:  As you can see from my sample, "Christmas Tags" can be used for more than creating tags for your gifts.  It can also be used to create beautiful sentiments on your cards.  My white card base is layered with True Black card stock and papers from the Eskimo Kisses paper pad from BasicGrey.  The white panel was embossed with the picnic plaid impression plate from PTI.  The ornaments were punched out of coordinating papers and decorated with a few pine branches, rick rack, glitter, and Baker's twine.  The frame was stamped and die cut with a long rectangle nestie and layered to a Regal Rose fancy tag die cut.  The pink separating line was traced with a glue pen and sprinkled with glitter.  Finally a button, some stitching, and a few Baker's twine bows were added to finish the card.  You won't want to miss what the other design divas have created with "Christmas Tags" over at the SNSS Blog!

I hope you are enjoying all of the wonderful Sweet Peeks.  Stop by again on Thursday for a peek at the last set before the big release party on September 15th on the SNSS forum over at SCS!  The party begins at 8:00...hope to see you there!

Hugs,
Cathymac

Goodbye Summer

Squee!  It's Saturday and time again for another Sweet Stop sketch.  It's drying out here in PA and we actually saw some sun yesterday...Yea!  That reminded me that it is still officially summer...that's right, autumn doesn't officially begin until September 23rd, so it's still summer for twelve more days.  While I've been enjoying the fall cards and projects here on blog land and in the galleries, I thought I would give summer a little love one last time!

Creative Nugget: For some reason I hardly ever grab my purple goodies to work with, but I love this Bo Bunny collection and decided to pull out the purples and greens on this project.  The card base is Plum Pudding and all of the DP layers are mounted on this color as well.  The image is a cute digital from Mo's Digital Pencil called "Wonder."  This little sweetie was colored with copics, cut out with a circle nestie, and mounted on a scalloped circle.  Notice her white shoes...I know it's after Labor Day, but I couldn't resist!  This was then popped up over the double layered ribbon.  A modern label punch was used for the sentiment.  Pearls and a bow made with my Bow Easy finish off the card.  I hope you enjoy this card and the last remaining days of summer!

Hop on over to The Sweet Stop to see some amazing samples created by the other Sugar Babies...you won't be disappointed.  Then use the linky tool over at The Sweet Stop to upload your card.  We love to see what you do each week!

Answered Prayer and a Sweet Peek

Much of our state is experiencing torrential rains and flooding and many have been evacuated.  Some of the damage has been devastating.  So my first thoughts and prayers today are for people who are having their lives turned upside down.   More rain is in the forecast until Monday...wish we could sent some of this rain to Texas!

Inspirational Nugget: I want to share a rather scary experience I had the other day, but it made me realize once again what a wonderful Lord we serve!  I was coming home from an appointment, and the down pour had let up somewhat, which was the first blessing.  I came to a road that was completely flooded...it looked like a river.  So I turned around and headed in another direction.  Again I came to a gushing river.  At this point I tried my trusty GPS, because I am severely, directionally challenged and could not find my way out of a wet paper bag, but the rain and cloud cover would not let a signal through.  I pictured myself stranded and in need of rescue!  At his point I prayed and continued to pray that the Lord would PLEASE help me find my way home!  Between blocked roads, detour signs, and I'm sure, the Lord's guidance, I finally made it.  I was never so happy to be home, dry, and safe.  This whole experience lead me to realize once again that there is a sure help in the storms of life.  After all, the one who can calm the storm, is able to keep us calm, and safely bring us through one.  The very next day, during my devotional time, I read this in Psalm 50:15;  "Call to me in time of trouble.  I will save you, and you will honor me."  How amazing is that!  The Lord did His part...I am saved and safe!  Now it is my prayer that this post and my life will bring honor to Him!

Now on to today's Sweet 'n Sassy Sweet Peek!  I am so excited to get to share a peek of this adorable new Christmas set with you.

"Christmas Puppy" will be available at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps on September 15th.  It has one image, three sentiments, and three words for building your own sentiment.  This set will sell for only $9.00 and you will definitely want to add it to your Christmas collection.

Creative Nugget:  The card base is Pure Poppy.  The next True Black panel is layered with designer papers from PTI and Cosmo Cricket.  A Summer Sunrise ribbon was tied around this panel.  This adorable image was colored with my trusty copics.  Can you guess who the model was for the coloring of the puppy?  The bells on the boot were colored with a gold Spica Glitter pen.  Glossy Accents were added to the puppy's eyes, the bells, and the holly berries.  The sentiment, which is included in this set, and pearls were added to complete the card.  I really like how this card turned out and I hope that a puppy just like this one finds himself under my Christmas tree this year!

Head on over to the SNSS Blog to check out some other awesome samples of this set created by the talented design team.  The full release party will take place on the Sweet 'n Sassy forum over at SCS at 8:00 on September 15th.  Hope you can join us!

Thanks for stopping by!  Drop in again tomorrow for the new Sweet Stop sketch.

Hugs,
Cathymac

I want to thank all of you for joining us on the Fall Fun Blog Hop!  I had such a great time and am thrilled and honored to have acquired so many new friends!  Please be sure to scroll all the way down to the end of this post to see the winner of my Blog Candy!

I'm so glad you decided to stop by because it's time again for Sweet'n Sassy Stamps "Sweet Peeks," and as my title suggests, this release will put you in the Christmas spirit!  The nine new stamp sets being released on September 15th are just perfect for all your Christmas crafting!  A different set will be featured for the next eight days, so stop by the SNSS Blog to catch a glimpse of the goodies...all of the design divas have been busy creating fabulous samples to whet your appetite!  Today is Day 1 of the Sweet Peeks and I get to share this "Beary Christmas" set with you!

Isn't this polar bear the cutest thing!  This set includes one image and six sentiments for creating cards that are humorous and BEARY adorable.  The best thing about this set is that it is free with a $50 purchase of clear stamps from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps!

Creative Nugget:  A white panel embossed with Swiss dots was attached to the black card base.  Cosmo Cricket DP was attached to another black panel and adhered to the Swiss dots layer.  The black nestie circle kind of reminds me of a cave.   A black gingham ribbon was then added.  Two torn layers were embossed with Swiss dots and covered with Dazzling Diamond Glitter.  The polar bear was so easy to color with copics since most of him stayed white.  The wreath on his "butt"  was stamped again and popped up for dimension.  A tag punch was used to create the sentiment.  What do you think?  Be sure to stop over at the SNSS Blog to see what the other talented ladies have done with this set.  Then join us on the 15th over at the SCS Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps forum for the release party!

And now...on to my project.  If you've just come from the talented Kim Schofield, you are on the right track.  If you've come in through the back door, you may want to start at the beginning with Lydia Fiedler...you don't want to miss any of the goodies!

Creative Nugget:  I just love the colors of fall and this Sweet 'n Sassy Digi image of an autumn bouquet is perfect for using all of those rich, warm colors.   The gift box shows the advantage of using digi images as I was able to resize the bouquet to fit the box.

I used The Sweet Stop sketch for this week as the design for my card.  The card base was sponged with Walnut Stain distress ink and texture was added with the picnic plaid impression plate by PTI.  The Autumn Abundance DP, also by PTI,  was sponged with distress ink and stitched to the card base.  The autumn bouquet was colored with copic markers and layered on a PTI doily die cut.  Twill ribbon was added across the bottom and the sentiment from Friendship Jar by PTI was cut apart and layered onto the ribbon.  A few pearls finish off the card.

This adorable little matching gift basket was made with a die from PTI.   The die was cut twice, folded, and taped together.  I then cut the die again from DP and trimmed it down to make a liner for the front of the card.  The little tag was punched from the modern label punch by SU! and one end trimmed to make a little flag!  The little basket is filled with yummy Wilbur Buds!

Thanks so much for stopping by...be sure to stop back again on Thursday for the winner of my blog candy!  Your next stop on the hop is the talented Mary Marsh!   Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

Hugs,
Cathymac

Thankful!

It's hard to believe that it's already been a week since hurricane Irene blew through the east coast.  My prayers are for all of you who are still cleaning up.  I am thankful that a day without electricity was the only inconvenience we experienced and lives around here are beginning to return to normal.

I am also thankful for all of you, dear friends, who stop by and leave such  kind comments.  I'm thankful that it's Saturday once again and time for another sketch at The Sweet Stop and as usual, Korin has another great one for us!

Creative Nugget:  Autumn is probably my favorite of all the seasons.  The colors of fall are so rich and warm.  With that in mind, my card sample today was made with two new Sweet 'n Sassy stamp sets.  I just LOVE coloring the leaves from the "Autumn Leaves" set with copic markers.  It's so much fun to see how many different ways the colors can be blended to mimic fall colors and still match the designer papers.  The sentiment is from the "Many Thanks" set and was cut with a circle nestability die and popped up on a Dark Chocolate circle die.  This was then popped up on a larger circle die.  After the leaves were colored and cut out, they were arranged around the sentiment to form a wreath.  A jelly roll pen was used to trace the veins in the leaves for some shimmer.  Little branches were punched out of matching DP and filled in the spaces in the wreath.  The leaf wreath was then popped up on a card base decorated with Basic Grey designer paper.  Some piercing, button twine, and pearls colored with a copic marker were added as finishing touches.  My take on this sketch is very different from that of the other Sugar Babies so you will want to stop in to see the wonderful cards they have made and leave a little love on each of their blogs.
